Oh wow that's around 23.4 million give or take. That's pretty amazing. I got one day one and it was a great machine for the time.

That's really good but the price point was $300 lower, it introduced graphics/performance modes, 4K resolution via upscaling and HDR. Most of all though, it showcased what Horizon Zero Dawn could look like at a higher resolution and what sold me on the PS4 Pro - HDR. Looked amazing. This time around, it's $300 more in a far worse economy world wide and the showcase for it were years old games that those who own a PS5 have already played and completed. We'll see how well it sells but I don't remember Sony separating PS4/PS4 Pro sales numbers last generation so I seriously doubt that they'll do it this gen.

Seems like some translation error here… needs to check.

It is around 20% of PS4 sold after it launched that means around 14-15 million total… overall around 13% of total PS4 sales.

This is the actual interview btw to check the translation but it is paywalled.

I doubt it'll reach 10% with the PS5 Pro, considering it's general reception.

Not to mention the public opinion seppuku they'll now have to deal with (as if Concord hadn't been enough).

The general public doesnt even remember these moments. And when they see how much PS5 Pro compares tot he equivalent no1 will care.
Despite all the FUD spreading by people who wish to see it fail….

Considering the PS5 itself will sell less than the PS4 overall. The PS5 Pro will definitely have a smaller cut of the Pie as well and given Sony's stance on hardware cost reductions for the consumer... The price point will certainly hinder it.

I'd say between 5 - 7 million could be the ceiling 🤔

For the Insomniac Games Leak we know :

PS4 Pro : 14,3 million units sold-through as of January 19, 2020.

And the Pro model was discontinued in january 2021.

I said it but people seems to ignore… something is lost in translation.

I think he meant after PS4 Pro launch it was 20% of all PS4 sold that fits with ~14m… after Pro the sales rise from ~48-49m to 117m.

But the article is behind a paywall and I can’t confirm.

Yes very strange.

We need to know the sales figures of the PS4 Pro in sell-in. Because the IG Leak number was in sold through wich it's not the same thing.

The total LTD of PS4 was 117,1 million units as of March 31, 2022.

So if the Pro sales represent

13% = 15,2M
14% = 16,4M
15% = 17,5M
16% = 18,7M
17% = 19,9M
18% = 21,1M
19% = 22,2M
20% = 23,4M

Otherwise in the US :

PS4 : 34,8M
Pro : 4,5M

Yep, since PS4 Pro launch in 2016 it's been 20% and I'm pretty sure most buyers were new to PlayStation that gen and didn't have a base PS4. The same thing will happen with PS5 Pro, most of the buyers wont already have a base PS5.

Thinking a bit about…

If I was to buy my first PS5 h this holiday I should buy a PS5 Pro… it is a no brainer to me.

But I already have a PS5 so unless it broke I will continue until the gen ends.

Trading in your PS5 and getting a PS5 Pro also makes the most sense, as that PS5 Pro is going to have much better performance than the PS5 and a higher trade in value for a PS6...
