Great sales in the US, and Sony will continue to eat into Xbox's marketshare.
Just remember Sony wanted the PS5 to be at 63 million by the end of the march
Doomers? Please be serious, we are all PS fans here and want to see the platform succeed. Obviously some things Sony are currently doing doesn't sit right with us and it has negatively impacted the brand.Based on tailwinds from pent up demand. What exactly does that have to do with PS4 or PC?
Even when they said it, many of of us said the number was unrealistic. They could have hit it if they wanted to. They decided to focus on operating income rather than units sold and they still are.
They could absolutely drop the price of the PS5 in Europe, the only major region where PS5 is significantly behind the PS4.
They're just not in a rush to do it to prove to you somehow that the PS5 is in good shape... They'll still get those European sales on the back end. People will migrate from CoD and EA FC on PS4 to PS5 continuously, especially when the previous platform is no longer supported.
The trajectory for PS5 does not need to outpace the PS4 significantly at this point to significantly outsell it before it is discontinued.
Again, how do you ignore the following
At this point, you have to be silly to think the PS5 isn't going to outsell the PS4 and it seems some of you doomers are starting to realize that and so the new response is oh it should be doing more than 8% better (US), yet if the Xbox Series is down 13%, 8% is actually really good, it means you're definitely capturing a significant Xbox market share in addition to new users. These Xbox users weren't all going to jump to PS5. Many will still be on Xbox One and some will go to PC or Switch.
- No Pro model yet (a year behind)
- No price drop (actually the opposite)
- GTA6 release
- No pandemic supply constraints that killed the PS4 off early

The fact PS5 is struggling to surpass the PS4 even without a price cut is a huge red flag. By years end they will only be ahead of the PS4 in North America, they would have fallen behind everywhere else... It's not a good look.
Only way the PS5 sells more than the PS4 is if they keep the system active for another 6 years and continue to manufacture it. And that's a big IF
They won't be ahead in Japan by years end. It was clear a lot of the PS5 's did not stay in Japan either. Now they are almost 60% down YOY in Japan. Can you explain why they're ahead in North America and Japan if the brand has been negatively impacted?
Even without a price cut? LOL... why is this a red flag? Something is more expensive, you wouldn't normally expect for it to sell better...
Again, Sony doesn't have to rush to sell this. I asked for people to answer the questions and that has been ignored for the same hysterics.
The PS5 will continue to sell for years after the PS4 though. The PS4 was cut down by the pandemic and supply restraints that needed to focus on PS5. So again it already looks like you're hedging.
Let's not forget their guidance for FY2024 is already lower than PS4s FY17. I'm not entirely sure they'll even be able to reach 18M.The PS5 make or break year for its 2nd half life cycle is next year, so we shall see.
They're definitely not reaching 18 million unless the pull a massive hat trick this Black Friday / Xmas.Let's not forget their guidance for FY2024 is already lower than PS4s FY17. I'm not entirely sure they'll even be able to reach 18M.

I didn't say FY2017 was a forecast though. Guidance vs effective, with the later being implied.Again, it was actually the exact same forecast. PS4 outperformed forecast by a million units.
