Lily Gao, Ada Wong's new voice actress* celebrated getting the role of the iconic character on Instagram, but her Instagram was getting bombarded with hate comments from rabid Ada fans this entire week since launch of RE4 Remake but it got out of hand a couple days ago when comments started getting incredibly mean and she deleted all of them and disabled her comment section.

*CAPCOM replaced Jolene Anderson (Ada's RE2 Remake voice) with Lily because Jolene joined a Union and CAPCOM decided to go non-union as well as going on an initiative to hire actors of the same ethnicities as the characters - applicable for all of their games from here on out.

For more context on Liliy's performance as Ada, here's a piece written by Jade King on TheGamer:
Ada sounds almost bored half the time, her delivery seldom doing justice to her own feminine gravitas or the power she holds over those working with her. One-liners are dry and disinterested, as opposed to tongue-in-cheek, meaning big moments fans can't wait to hear land with a whimper. Ada is almost in a different world altogether, or doesn't express a campy irreverence in her femme fatale performance seen in other takes on the character. The end result is a beloved character who feels out of place, and this isn't something I hold against the actor, but perhaps the direction she was given or the role she was asked to inhabit that falls so far out of line with what we know and love.

She has deleted all of the pictures off IG except this one.

I am so tired of this White privilege crap, it's rampant over here in the UK too,

I judge people by their character, not their skin color, and I am not responsible for what people did hundreds of years ago.

All that white privilege stuff does is divide us as a people, its fucking sad.

I’d like someone to explain how I can be said to benefit from white male privilege when I have been subjected to discrimination in education, the workforce and finance thanks to being a white male, thanks to all the programs to benefit literally everyone else in the society I live in.

Yep, it's just not a good solution, it's creating barriers against people that have nothing to do with it.

I keep hearing that phrase and think, i only turned on my heating last winter like 2 times as i can not afford it.

I personally was denied university admission due to being held to an unreasonable standard for grades, denied upward mobility in multiple jobs due to incentives to promote anything other than white men, disadvantaged in loans for cars and housing due to banks being incentivized to lend to women and minorities over white men and the list goes on.

Honestly, if I didn’t qualify as disabled, I’d be totally fucked!

Weird shit out there. Ada is definitely sculpted like a 10 petite in a tight mini-dress with leggings so she's bound to have rabid "followers" - intentional by the devs.

I think the actress did a fine job for the little screen time she got.

I disliked Albert Wesker's new voice more than Ada's. With DC Douglas fired, you would think they would bring back Richard Waugh or hire someone like Ron Perlman, but the new voice actor sounded like a generic bad guy.

I'm at the part where Ada speaks for the first time and I thought she sounds manly. Ada was a sexy character so it doesn't really fit.

Give me her address!

So many weirdos and people with mental issues in the gaming community. I’m still trying to figure out why she’s getting so much hate and none of it makes sense to me.

On playthrough 4 and it never really bothered me the first time round.

Wesker however is taking a bit to get use to

If nothing else, this is an interesting case of brand cohesion/synergy gone awry.

(Lily Gao played Ada in Welcome to Racoon City as set-up for a probably dead sequel.)

The same thing happened in reverse with the Paul Anderson films, where Li Bingbing played Ada with Sally Cahill dubbing the voice.

Hopefully Ada and Wesker are recast in the next game. My suggestions would be Kelly Hu and Ron Perlman.
