So I have been going through some of my backlog, it's pretty large if I must say so. ( @Bryank75, you feel my pain don't you)

After what was the epic journey or the God of war Ragnarock I tried to play The Last of us 2, to be honest, i have been struggling to get to grips with it. After about tens hours in, i ditched it and move on to dead cells, which was fun.

I now see myself playing Resident Evil 2, the remake and I must say I am really really enjoying it.

The atmosphere, the setting, trying to figure things out, and just exploring is really fun.

I have only played resident evil 4,5,6 the originals, (six was not good) and another one on a Boat, which might be called Revelations, not sure, but none of the new stuff.

I also picked up resident evil 3 the remake in a sale and was wondering how does it compare to the second.

I still have 7 which I got for free from Sony for buying the ps5, but that looks like real horror and i am not really into that, prefer the action type of resident evil 4 in the original. Is it worth giving it a go?

Still have not played Village, but that looks pretty good and it is getting to a very good price point now.

Are there any other games that are similar to Resident evil out there?

Not strickly horror but more action, investigate and explore?

Yes, my backlog pain is great and deep!

These games are great and appeal to a lot of people, I think that's why so many want a Dino Crisis remake!

I never played the OG DC.

You have RE3 Remake and if you haven't played RE4 Remake, there's that and RE5 is playable on PS5.

I think RE Villiage is more action oriented too and I'm not sure but I think it got a 3rd person cam...maybe someone can confirm or deny?

REmake3/4 are good/great but REmake2 is the best thus far in my opinion. While different, I recommend Dead Space remake. Such an excellent game, even more so if you never played the original like me. Hehe. The Evil Within 1 and 2 are great too.

You need Village in your life. With dlc. First and third person. After finishing re4 remake i i d say i love village more overall. Before re4 was nr.1 for me. Maybe it was nostalgia.

I love 2 but couldnt stand 3. Deleted it after 2 hours or so. From what i played u re just running away from that stupid huge mutant. Bad pacing and level design also. Maybe its good overall but i doubt.

Dead space s good.
Evil within 2 s solid. First s hard trash imo. Skip it.

I haven't played it myself yet, but that Dead Space remake is high on the list. The original definitely carries RE4's game design forward, and I'm excited to see the more open ship design in the new one.

Resident Evil 3 remake is ever-so-slightly more action-oriented, but ultimately a very similar experience. It's also shorter, but depending on how you enjoy the pacing, that may be a good thing. Its biggest weakness is probably the opening section isn't as open and interesting as the RPD Station in RE2make. A lot of people shit on RE3make for not including all content that was in the original, but I still enjoy the game a lot while I'm actually playing it.

Resident Evil Village is basically first-person Resident Evil 4 v2. Very action-oriented, focused on feeling more like an adventure. There is definitely one specific section that is exclusively horror-oriented, though. As in, it takes your weapons away. It's short though, and very unsettling.

Then obviously there's Resident Evil 4 remake after all that.

Dead Space remake is also excellent. It overhauls the map design so it's much more open and requires/encourages backtracking for good rewards, just like RE2 does.

There is nothing like RE2 remake. RE3 remake is the closest.

The Evil Within? It's more horror, especially the first one. It's a bit linear and there are no puzzles.

The second game opens up a bit and you have a sandbox to play in and explore for extra weapons and items. It's also more stealth focused but you can go in guns blazing. But both of those games dot play as well as RE2 remake. The controls and aiming are a bit stiff.

RE3 is INCREDIBLY short. Still plays the same as RE2 but is A LOT more action focused. An incredibly fun game, still.

RE7 is horror. Plain and simple. Up until the very end you can count the number of enemies in each area on both hands. Really slow paced with ammo conservation being a must on the first playthrough. Also comes with stalker enemies several times throughout the game. I'd still try it but if you don't like slower paced horror games, you probably won't like it.

RE8 is basically RE4 in first person. A lot of RE4 elements are included, such as collecting treasures and paying for weapon upgrades. Incredibly action oriented apart from one area.
