This is smart.
Sony can't convince From Software to make another game with them. Even the 14% stake won't help. But they can get some support for a Bloodborne movie.
How do you even
infer that from the quote? Man, we gotta get you on the Olympics team for gymnastics, you're a pro!
Sony has tons of PS5 games in development.
Full on games take more time than ever to make, and any game releasing in the next couple of years had COVID delays, just like the games that got delayed coming out right after COVID lockdowns.
Why are people so anxious to hear "announcements" for games, that won't make those games come out any sooner?
Sony released GT7, HFW, and will release God of War all in the same year and people are whining about PS5 games...
Well, when you're in a sense an investor into the brand, putting your own money in...don't customers deserve the same level of transparency and consideration as shareholders? I don't understand why when you put $500+ into a new console, you shouldn't be able to ask for a roadmap pertaining to that console.
Compared to the information usually required for shareholders, that isn't asking for much IMO. Regarding PS in particular; they've already set a precedent for three years now for either a PS Experience (December, like in 2019) or a PS Showcase (June 2020, September 2020, September 2021). We're in October now for 2022 and no official word of a Showcase.
If you're a "soft" investor/shareholder, essentially, having bought a PS5 (or if you're planning to buy one), I think it's totally fair to ask where the planned Showcase is, where maybe some gameplay earlier-revealed games like Spiderman 2 or that Capcom space game are at. Now you can say updates on that stuff have been held back due to lack of console supply earlier, or because Sony didn't want to overshadow HFW, GT7 and GOW Ragnarok (tho this particular one I find kind of silly). But if that's been the case, a little more transparency on that note would've been nice.
I mean at the end of the day, it's not a
huge deal at the slightest, but I think it shows a spot in the overall communication chain that can be patched up to be better, IMO.
Or an anime. They do own Crunchyroll which uses all rights for Funimation shows/Movies.
I can definitely see them doing that. However I just don't get Sleepy's idea that they are mutually exclusive; Sony and FromSoft can do both. No reason to infer they can't work on another game together from that quote, just because he's focused on talking about transmedia opportunities at that specific point.
