It seems that Sony isn't the only one eyeing Kadokawa, so let's hold off on celebrating just yet

I can say vague things, but I still don’t have anything I can say with certainty. However, I can at least say that integrating KADOKAWA, with the founding family having stepped down, into the group as the core for IP creation is a possible option.
(Not Sony, but the understanding is that there have been acquisition talks in the past.)

mibu actually believes Sony gonna lock their games to their launcher… they’ve been feeding steam for the last 4 years with tentpole releases and he thinks out of nowhere Sony is gonna pull all of their games from it. get over it…. sony is a third party publisher
yeah sony isnt going to do that. That would be a dumb move.

BTW if this deal happens. I wouldn’t expect From titles to be exclusive. This will probably be like Bungie, where Sony will allow them to publish and release their titles everywhere.
If that’s the case Sony needs to throw PS consoles away & release day n date & kill there entire 30 years business because Valve/Steam isn’t letting go of exclusive first party + exclusive 3rd party & Nintendo will always hold exclusive 1st party games both double downing on there platform which you will see market share & profit for them grow while PS decline & shrinks like Xbox.

Apple values owning & having full control of a storefront more then Sony/PS so maybe we see a Apple handheld w the App Store now storing console, PC & mobile games for people to play + the benefits of no online subscription & being more multi purpose

they’ll continue to have fromsoft games… nothing will change
It's fine. This purchase is not about exclusivity. It's having control like MS with COD.

Nobody likes consolidation but that ship has sailed. We can't go back 5 years ago before MS started buying 2 mega publishers and many big studios with everybody cheering for them to get more.

Sony needs to finally respond.

The same poster who called Sony buying Kadokawa... and called Sony creating their own PC launcher well before the PC overlay came out?

How many times do I have to be right before people like you stop and think before saying stuff like this?

Seems like a misunderstanding of the translation.

I took this as they might have been in talks with others before getting into talks with Sony.

Twitter Japan has been talking about Sony saving Kadokawa from Korean and Chinese investment.

If Sony had vision they could have bought them 10 years ago for $100 million. Same for Atlus

Right now they are sleeping on acquiring Arrowhead who in ten years will probably be celebrating 100 million sales of Heck-divers published by EA
Just like Sony could’ve bought Capcom & Square when they both where in trouble & only worth like 4 billion?

In the real Sony needs to spend rn while there cheap because they will only become more valuable & increase market cap w Nintendo next console having more power & blurring the line against PS consoles new opportunities for 3rd party developers to monetize. With Xbox completely out of the picture Nintendo & Valve/Steam are higher & greater threat to PS. PS should not fold by releasing pc port that continues to see a decline trend diminishing the PS platform & ecosystem for short term & small “profits gain” those extra profit & mau could be brought if PS actually release more then 1 game per year & didn’t rely on 3rd party where those 3rd party don’t require a PSN account to play. Maybe fudge numbers by making players even on PS make a PSN account so if they ever go on PC or mobile & PS release a multiplayer live service game they allready have a PSN account because they played the permanent exclusive games on PS console becoming much easier to swallow.

LMFAO, my guy, you’re NEVER right, at all…

the launcher, PC overlay and more were all leaked information due to job listings in the past, it doesn’t mean sony will delist their games from steam, put a little thing in your head: if they wanted to compete in the launcher front they wouldn’t be putting their biggest tentpole titles like God Of War, Spiderman, The Last Of Us and more on Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, they’re basically telling PC players that it’s ok to stay on the launchers they already are, this won’t change

Sony is literally on the bed with Steam, they’re literally Steam’s little whore, they’ve been not only feeding Steam’s storefront with tentpole releases but making most of their games Steam Deck compatible and allowing their studios to PROMOTE competing hardware like the Steam Deck on their official accounts

this is not the position of a company that wants to have a chance to compete in the PC launcher front, anyone with 2 brain cells can see it. don’t understand why you want to insist on such argument

I see this acquisition as Sony Group getting Kadokwa not SIE getting FromSoftware tbf. I don’t think those titles will be exclusives. I mean Aniplex (owned by Sony) is releasing The Hundred Line on Switch and PC but not on PS5.
Sony/PS need fix that shit. Everything associated with Sony gaming wise should all release on PS.

If Sony wanted something near GTA w great potential in singleplayer, multilayer, VR & cross media CDPR isn’t bad but it won’t be cheap where you really get 1 studio that makes games on a cycle of what 7+ years

Still think looking at Capcom, Square Enix/Dragon Quest is more important of having a wider range of ip/genres to support especially PS continue decline in Japan & lacking of JRPGS games cater to Asia in general
I definitely think Sony will buy in 2025/2026 some Japanese Studios specialsed in JRPG. There also rumors for a while thst Sony has talks with Falcom, JP GAMES. Square Enix was definitely in talks back then in 2022 but we know how it did end sadly...

If Sony/PS miss a 2nd time of owning Fromsoft Sony & PS leadership need to hang themselves fr.

I’d argue Fromsoft & the games/universes they make are in itself worth easily 3 billion argue 5 billion. I’d put Elden Ring up there w Lord of the rings, Narnia, Games of thrones, Star Wars etc the potential in the cross media w Elden Ring 1 alone from merchandise to collaborations to parks theme around Fromsoft games demon souls, bloodborne, elden ring, mecha game. Sony/PS would easily a new ip w a new mecha game that can be expanded to cross media. Not sure if they own Armor Core but if they don’t make a new ip & call it Armor Shock, great name btw

Have to keep telling myself not to engage with, but part of me always tries to educate people like you.

A Master of Science in Software Engineering and multiple years of experience as Software Engineer and Architect is enough education for me, thank you, appreciate the effort. Too bad you spit a lot of bullshit from you uneducated mouth, so maybe you should start educating yourself before going around and lowering everybody's IQ.

What's running is a build.

Only able to run by AMATEURS on PC so quickly after the leak, because the engine is already built to do so.

You can spit something into Visual Studio and compile it against several different platforms.

This is why I keep trying to tell you guys that there isn't a lot of cost in doing PC ports nor is it a distraction for the primary developer.

Both of these sentences are a perfect example of how you don't know what you are talking about.

But you're not looking to learn anything or debate anything. You'll just put a laughing emoji up because you don't want to get into a debate and @Sircaw will say you're not trolling.

I try to debate, I even try to teach you new things or correct you when you are wrong, but you hold onto your ignorance like Jack to Rose's hand. Try to be Rose instead, and let the ignorance go.
