it's so sad how... despite Gaming/Network Services bringing the most amount of money, Sony is not willing to invest in gaming publishers... it's always about multi-media or music/movies.
If Sony buys at least Falcom and JP GAMES (Hajime Tabata; Crisis Core) it would be a start.

It definitely is about Anime.

Sony Group buying Kadokawa primarily to enhance their Anime/Manga business. Fromsoftware and other gaming studios are just a bonus.
It's the whole package. Win win.
A potential Elden Ring 2 will generate $1billion+ of revenue alone

Stop it.

Look at their market cap post Elden Ring. The company's valuation is entirely built around FromSoftware.

If they just wanted anime/manga there are better companies they could buy.

No, Kadokawa is the biggest anime and manga owner corporation in Japan. They don't fully own FromSoftware, this has been talked about by anime industry expert for years.

Square Enix was pretty expensive at that time. Wait another year and will be even cheaper
Idk with Switch 2 & day one Square Enix releases there they will likely cost more. The time to buy Square is 2020-2023 & or RN RN while there stocks are down & possible investors being desperate for a easy cash in from a Sony acquisition

Kadokawa is not the biggest anime/manga owner in Japan.

They're the majority shareholder. They sold a minority share to Tencent via SixJoy and Sony.

True I agree but better late than never. Xbox is not getting FF7R and XVI. Maybe FF17 will be Multi-platform but who knows that game is still 5-8 years away. Also Xbox could likely not exist anymore as console business. Microsoft CEO Nadella and Roger Smith Chairman are fed up with the losses through Xbox hardware.
Xbox might not exist but Steam & Nintendo still stand tall

They don't fully own FROM because they sold 14% to SIE and 16% to Tencent. They used this money to buy Elden Ring ip from Bandai. Anyway owning 84% of FROM will be de facto owning them. Tencent don't have any say with their 16%.

CDPR was never going to get bought by Sony. It was either From or Square.

CDPR's stock crashed post Cyberpunk. They don't want to sell because they think they can get their stock back to where it was.

For context it was at 31 USD a share and fell as low as 4.90. It's currently 9.52.

It would take a lot to get their stock back up to where it was before. Probably massive success with both The Witcher 4 and Witcher remake and successful follow up to Cyberpunk.

I think they'd be better positioned to rebound as part of PlayStation Studios, but I can see why the owners wouldn't want to sell. That and there is probably some level of animosity towards Sony.

Square Enix Talks fell off. What can we possibly do about it? Matsuda wanted to sell but Sony took to long. They have bought Bungie instead and gave SE the middle-finger. So even if Sony decides for another bid in the future, with Kiryuu it will ve difficult to do so.
Maybe slightly overpay. I still predict w publishers pushing monetary + Nintendo & Steam growth + possible future platform/storefront like Apple or Netflix these companies value will grow. Rn Sony/PS needs studios to increase output of first party, diverse genre/ip & talent to create multiplayer games for PS & Mobile like Hoyoverse & or larger scale multiplayer game across PS & PC (PS PC launcher) for both long term growth/profit & full control of there games, business & ecosystem.

I think long term if Bungie is under PS studios & games like Marathon was PS5 & PC hell even release it on PS4 & the same for a Destiny 3 they are still valued + I think the cross media potential for Destiny still exceeds the acquisition cost if they play there cards right.

But with them still releasing on Xbox they hold no value long term w no control & there direct competitors receiving PS games even Bungie instead of fully exploiting Bungie for all it’s worth towards the PS brand

Everyone likes to discount Herman's role in things they see as positive while simultaneously blaming him for everything that they don't like...

Agendas are a wicked thing.
Oh yeah, I'm just saying maybe he did have a hand in this... Who knows.

I give him a hard time but it's just based on what I see and don't agree with. It's nothing personal.
