all seems believable enough

DualSense Edge - January, $200
PS VR2 - February, $550

PS5 2000 - September (w/ Spidey 2), still $400/$500?
DualSense w/ display - October/November, $250?
Accessibility controller - October/November, ?

Pulse premium headset - Jan/Feb 2024, $200?
wireless earbuds - Jan/Feb 2024, $150?
PS5 Pro - November 2024, $500/$600?

I remember you arguing that there will not be a PS5 pro.

A pro next year when only a few games have been PS5 only is silly. What will even be the marketing point of a pro now that they used the 4k gimmick last gen?
It will be good update, who wants one. Instead of playing 2k60fps, maybe we will have an option to 4k60fps. It really matter when you have big tvs. Or it can add extra performance and stability. By the look of it, it will be 8 years gen.

Starting to doubt any of this is true outside of the detachable disc drive model (which may not even be a Slim). And given the current market and future market 2 or so years out, are some of these even needed?

Q-Lite still doesn't make sense to me unless it can also natively play PS4 games on the go. I could see it being a big boost in markets like Japan with a feature like that. PS5 Pro doesn't really make a lot of sense either; regular PS5 demand is through the roof and they're finally fully streamlining the production pipeline with the detachable model. Why complicate the production pipeline again with a PS5 Pro? Unless they can chipletize the GPU, it's just going to complicate the wafer allocation. Not as bad as what MS are currently dealing with (unlike Series S, there would be actual demand for a PS5 Pro), but complicate it all the same.

Although I also guess if it's enough of a power increase, has good enough profit margins (they wouldn't sell a Pro for break-even or taking losses on it) and there's enough of the market to justify production, I guess maybe there wouldn't be too much an issue. It's just going to take PS5 games and give them boosted framerates and graphical settings, after all. The complete inverse of what Series S is to Series X.

A pro will allow following options:

4K 30 fps with ultra settings and RT

1440P DRS 60fps with mix high to ultra settings and RT quality

4K 60fps with mix high to ultra settings and NO RT

1440P DRS 120 fps with High settings and NO RT

I believe my numbers here are realistic for $600 pro console.

I've said it a few times and I'll say it again. Screw these console upgrades. If I wanted that, I'd play on PC.

Might as well either go that route or just wait to get a console until a Pro version releases.

Upgrade after almost 4 years of use is worth it. It also means this gen will be little longer than usual. Thus having slight resolution and fps boost coupled by enhanced RT features ( which almost certain will be the main upgrade of the new RDNA GPUs) is very much welcomed

All pretty reasonable.

Q-lite being described as a DualSense with a screen is less offensive to my sensibilities. If it works well I could see myself getting one down the line.

As for the PS5 Pro, day one. I don't care what it is, I want it, PS5 is good enough but if it's better I'll be willing to pay the difference.

I wonder what advantages a Pro would bring to VR? Those games run pretty sexy as it is.

Let's see:
  • PS5 SKU with detachabe disc drive Sept. 2023
  • Accesibility gamepad Oct-Dec 2023
  • Remote Play handheld/gamepad Oct-Dec 2023
  • Wireless earbuds end of 2023
  • Wireless headset end of 2023
  • PS5 Pro Q4 2024 (tentative)
Seems pretty unrealistic to release all this hardware almost at the same time and months after the PSVR2 release. I think it would be a better idea to spread more the hardware & accesories releases across time.

And well, I still think the PS5 Pro won't exist and I'm skeptical about the detachable disc drive PS5 SKU (seems a good idea, but I'd release it later) and the remote play device (again seems a good idea but I'd also allow to stream cloud gaming directly from there too -without using the PS5 console- if the PS5 console isn't wired to the router).

Day 1 for that PS5 Pro.

I'm not sure about the new PS5, if it is way smaller, I might sell my old digital.... if it looks the same, I wont bother.

Qlite.. really dont see the point. PS games are not meant to be played on small screens.
