I was looking through my library of games and saw Ryse.. which I had completely forgotten about. I decided to install it and check it out on the Deck.

Runs better and at higher settings than the Xbox One version.

XO: 900p, Medium settings, 30fps with frequent dips into the low 20s and high teens.
Deck: 900p, High settings, 30fps locked.

Pretty incredible how well this game holds up even today, some 9 years later. Looks incredible on the device itself! Seeing games like this, Spider-man, God of War, FH5, Gears 5, DMC5, RE2/3 Remakes, and so on running on the Deck never ceases to amaze me.

I know this game gets a bad rep, but it’s probably my most wanted Xbox game to play as a ps gamer. Think it may the cinematic linearity with cool setting.

How do you like the controls on the Deck when playing the game?

It's a simple game but it's actually pretty cool.

i thought it deserved a sequel to be honest. Visually still stunning. And I thought it could be cool to have in a way Xbox's own Ridley Scott style Galdiator game. With it being about some of the politics of the Roman empire, and you being more for you're men.

Lots of potential.

This game got undue criticism IMO. It was basically a modern day beat em up and I had fun with it. Plus it was a launch game or close to it. Would have loved to see another entry in the series that improved upon all the core bits.

This is fine, DF told us back in the days that its scaling technology and frame pacing (or whatever) was so amazing that it felt just right the way it was

They're perfectly fine to me. Just like any other controller.

It did back in the day, and I agree with everything they said. 900p was fine for the time, given the temporal AA. It looked a hair softer than other games, but had a cinematic quality that was ahead of its time.

A new Ryse with improved visuals, motion matching animations, and deeper gameplay would be fucking awesome. They could easily take what's here and build upon it, and make the combat better, the environments more interesting to explore, throw in puzzles, and set pieces.

Microsoft should have been on that shit after the PS3 generation. It was very clear that cinematic action games were going to be immensely popular.

Hopefully the rumors are true and we get a sequel.

It's certainly closer to being a good game, worthy of a sequel than the order 1886!

Nope, not when you had the PS4 released at about the same time and it provided games that looked as good at 1080p at a solid 30 FPS.

Battlefield 4 was 900p, but it ran close to 60 pretty much all the time and it looked great.

Agree here 100%. I'm loving my Deck more than my actual computer because I'm getting pretty much high settings @800p with 30FPS in most games. The only thing that's missing is the RT. Very well built mobile device!
