After two decades generating many billions of loses and recently spending around $100 Billions on acquisitions pretty likely the higher ups ran out of patience with the MS game division and told them to stop the bullshit, accept that Xbox console and Gamepass are a failure, and turn the division into a profitable one:
After two decades generating many billions of loses and recently spending around $100 Billions on acquisitions pretty likely the higher ups ran out of patience with the MS game division and told them to stop the bullshit, accept that Xbox console and Gamepass are a failure, and turn the division into a profitable one:
- Go full multiplatform focusing on platforms where they sell the most (mobile and PlayStation)
- Use Windows instead of Xbox as their own platform
- Forget the "Netflix of gaming" idea and focus on what really makes money in gaming: selling games and add-ons, particularly in GaaS
- Focus on the studios, IPs, genres that perform better
- Cut the fat shutting down games, studios (and fire workers) that aren't productive/profitable
