So the game is still appearing for some awards.

Yes, but outside of China it was championed and praised for being anti woke. As soon as the devs said what they said, people went nuts for it, one way or another.

The game has been accepted well and fine and is appreciated. Reviewed well too mostly, obviously there is always biased reviews against it just like alot of games
Game of the year doesn't mean biggest seller. Eitherwise COD and Fifa would win it every year.
Hogwarts got 84… all the nominee’s are over 90 except Alan Wake at 89.

Still, 85 score - compared to the highest being Bayonetta 2 that year 91 and Dark Souls 2 is more reasonable.
Its not a 81 WuKong - ( 75 on PS5 ) metacritic going against FF7, Astrbot and more games scoring higher.

On a more important note, Darks Soul 2 being 91 while Bloodborne being 92 is criminal. The reviewers really tried to stick it to Bloodborne.

Hogwarts Legacy got an 84 Metacritic. All the games nominated last year were higher rated.
All the games were in the 90s except AW2 which was 89.
They didn't make it exclusive. They only provided support for development. It helps that the devs weren't forced to make it run on a potatoe to release on PSN.
Whether Hogwarts and Wukong were wrongly not nominated.

You know what I'm praying? That we start getting middle eastern games studios. These lads would show us proper games without this DEI Woke stuff.
It was the other way around. The game was never "championed and praised" for being anti-woke.
Rather the game was target of a coordinated harassment and defamation campaign by western access media, namely IGN, because of some nefariously translated comments on social media by the game's director. And then IGN+friends attributed low review scores based on their perceived lack of representation in a game set in an ancient Chinese mythical land starring a talking monkey that fights Chinese folklore monsters.
The only thing the "anti-woke" people did was laugh at how little IGN's sphere of influence became when the game's sales skyrocketed.
There's nothing anti-woke about the game. The game simply lacks woke elements, but that doesn't make it anti-woke. An anti-woke game would be going out of their way to paint woke stuff as evil or stupid, for example, and there's none of that there.
Please, let's not move the needle to call anti-woke at anything that isn't festered with woke elements.
I think Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and UAE kinda have infinite funds but I think Saudi Arabia are closer as they're making cartoons, movies, and have gaming studios under their investments.

I saw a comment the other day on reddit after watching The Witch. The bloody arguments were all about patriarchy and woke vs anti woke, vs christians lol.
There were actually people supporting “The Witch” character because to them (totally delusional and stretching) she’s against the “patriarchy”.
This is a witch in the movie, who kidnaps children, grinds them into a pulp and eats them and baths in their blood. The Witch also kills and eats animals, rapes a minor and kills the whole family. But woke freaks think she’s the “goodie”. Pure mental illness.
On the other side, you get a politician who say Jeff Epstein and P Diddy are their friend, great friends but because they are right winged/anti woke there is no suspicion lol.
