so... with everything going on with Xbox, what are Sony's plan for PlayStation in the future?

will they really go put their games on PC still? even after their main rival failling to sell consoles and becoming a third party publisher due to day and date on PC back in 2016? will they still put PS Plus on PC, Smart TV and Mobile devices despite seeing everything that's going on? will they now change strategy and focus more on exclusivity since they'll have around 55M new potential console buyers? they can finally achieve 180 - 200M consoles sold if they put enough effort into it, now they'll be the definitive console to play ALL games (minus Nintendo), you'll be able to play Halo, Gears, Forza, God Of War, Spiderman, The Last Of Us, Horizon, Ghost Of Tsushima, Hellblade 2, all of these games on a single console

I don't doubt they'll slowly keep bringing games to PC just not anytime soon after they release them. Think about it they don't do what they do to put Xbox out of business that's their competitors M.O.

They will be making so much additional revenue from the lost xbox players and having their games they won’t need to rush anymore

if i were in Kenichiro's position, seeing everything that's happening with Xbox, i would completely change strategy, lock everything to PlayStation, bringing Only On PlayStation back and focus on dominating and growing in more markets with the Console, since they'll be the only relevant home console manufacturer, they can really take this opportunity to grow more and more, they'll take 30% cuts on all high end games in the industry, they'll be the main place to play everything, big and small

Subscriptions are NOT WORTH going all in, putting PS Plus on more devices would only put pressure on them to add games to the catalog more frequently to grow subscribers, it's a very dangerous path and it's stagnant even for MS with day one releases and publisher acquisitions, we saw Horizon Forbidden West going from 150M predicted revenue in the second year to 38M after being added to PS Plus after 1 year, it simply doesn't match their AAA 300M dollar budget vision, look at GOW Ragnarok, it is still selling very well in its second year, if they were to put it on Plus after 1 year they would kill the sales, the game would take years and years to achieve 20 million copies sold (currently it has 15 million)

PS+ Being everywhere should have happened long ago especially for Apple products and PC. tried with PS Now but the Gaiki tech wasn't up to par so that was a bust. But this is the only thing of theirs's that should be on PC that will allow access to their ecosystem otside of GaaS.

What they need to do is fix their pipeline, try to get their hardware prices down it's getting ridiculous cost of entry is only going up. Invest in more mid size games with AAA polish, and just keep bringing out the AAA Bangers .

Find better partners that can get them new innovative AA games / multiplayer hits... They've been trash at this since 2020

what is better, give your games to PC and give 30% to Valve and make 1/2M more copies of your game OR getting 50M+ potential console buyers next gen and even this gen? (and btw getting 30% cuts on your store across all third parties and 100% on your first party games + selling controllers, subscriptions, headphones) c'mon Sony, WAKE. THE. F*CK. UP.

This is so obvious that what pains me is that they will definitely go for short term (small) profit(s) and continue their ports.

they completely ignore the long term ramifications it'll have on their hardware sales, Xbox started doing that almost 10 years ago and look where they are today, look at Series X/S lagging 2M behind the Xbox One, it might happen to Sony with the PS6/7 if they continue with this PC vision

Why would they stop putting games on pc? What’s happening to Xbox has nothing to do with ps putting games on pc. Most games peak in their first yr in sales than they decline to a trickle what’s the point of keeping them off of pc forever. It’s not like the sales will go back up.
Xbox mistake was day and date on pc and day and date in gamepass in every case. Also for spend so long without developing a strong pipeline and leaning on forza gears and halo. Also Xbox leadership is horrible. If Phil, Aaron and Matt worked for Sony they would have been gone before this gen started and a new leadership would be in command. Matt is an incompetent dumbass, Greenberg only catered to fanboys and spent more time on social media being antagonistic to ps gamers than actually doing effective marketing for Xbox and Phil con artist he’s a suite who pretends he’s everyone’s cool uncle, he tells lies exaggerates and just tells his community what they want to hear. He loves his fanboys because they make him feel like he’s actually doing something but he hasn’t the balls or the imagination for real leadership. PS will fill the vacuum Xbox leaves behind and will be more successful while they continue to expand on mobile, TVs, pcs, cloud whatever. It would be reduces for them to go back to a purely console strategy the way the industry is going everyone is vulnerable and u can’t rest on your laurels. It’s not crazy that giving up hardware may embolden Microsoft to make a play for steam. Ps needs to keep a presence there.

Exclusivity to what? I'm firmly of the belief that Xbox is a dead man walking when strippedof exclusives, if anything Sony is now free to spend less on third party exclusives and let the tech and install base do the rest.

because there are long term implications in making all their games be avaliable on another platform, not right now cause they have like 10 - 15 games on PC, but eventually when everything will be avaliable there, people will start realizing they don't need a PlayStation to play most games, it's not something positive for the brand, it's only going to grow Steam as a platform and give them the control to take 30% cuts on Sony, instead of Sony taking 30% cuts on their console across all third partys, it simply doesn't match everything PlayStation has been doing for the last 30 years and for literal pennies, their games are being HEAVLY pirated on PC, just like all singleplayer "one and done" games, the right thing, should be to make the live service games be avaliable on PC day and date and lock all singleplayer games to sell hardware like they've always done

Xbox One actuallly was a good competitor to PS4 in the first 3 years, after they started putting their games day and date on PC the sales completely declined, they went from 30M in 3 years while they had true exclusives and timed exclusives like Rise Of The Tomb Raider to like 50M total in 8 years (managed to sell only 20M in more than double the amount of years), it's a dumb strategy, the only thing MS made making their games day and date on PC was grow Steam as a platform (and btw, they have Steam Deck, it will completely kill a new PS handheld to not have true exclusives)

They will put out more multiplat games and a slightly improved subscription service model. Probably follow suit with the console race and adapt a similar idea with a counter os that's similar to the one microsoft might create that can be put onto many different computers akin to a ordinary computer.

I doubt there's 50 million extra sales there accounting for hardcore multi console owners and pure casuals unaware of exclusive dealings

Nintendo is still eating more of the casual market than Microsoft are

If they want to grow their base I think the PS5 compatible handheld rumours are the best bet... Though not entirely sure how that sort of hardware would be possible
