I don’t mean to make another sony cheerleading thread (i do) but i cannot believe how active sony has been this year.

  • Two major acquisitions, Bungie & Haven
  • Shipped multiple AAA first party games, Uncharted Legacy of Theives, Returnal Acension expansion, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, MLB The Show 22, The Last of Us Part I, God of War Ragnarok, etc.
  • Multiple 3rd part exclusives, Sifu, Ghostwire Tokyo, Stray, Valkyrie Elysium, etc.
  • Multiple major Firmware upgrades, including VRR and ALLM
  • The revealing of PSVR2 hardware and the first couple of exclusive games
  • All new revamped ps plus service, Extra and Premium tiers which expand to classic games and demo’s
  • Major Share Factory update
  • Multiple State of Plays
And we still have 5 months left and most likely a major showcase:oops:

I think this year kinda sucks.
Horizon was a disappointment for me. It was good but as I said in your other topic, I think it failed in many aspects for me. I hated characters, bad climbing and so on.
MLB? who cares... sports!
Gran Turismo is a huge fail although the core driving and great.
Uncharted is a remaster ... and one of few PS games I finished and loved this year! Good remaster!
Tlou1 is a remake... I will get it for sure too.
Vrr should be here almost 2 years ago.... and once it is here, it's only 48hz+ wtf.
I was hoping psvr2 would be here already... TAKE MY MONEY

Such a let down for me so far. ps+ is good but I am afraid it will ruin physical games.
Feels like a small output for a first year. not 2nd year.

I think it's been a decent year. I hope GoW is good considering I wasn't super thrilled with the first one. I'm going to give it another shot though.

I don't think we should tout Haven as a good purchase until we see what they are even doing. :ROFLMAO:

Regardless of what the game ends up as, its still a major talent acquisition in a new territory. Always good to expand your roster with industry veterans.

Yeah but we've already seen that kind of thing backfire with "The Initiative" so ... I'm just holding out judgement until we see a product.

Yeah, i think the difference is the Initiative was a rag tag group of random people, while this is mostly all people who have worked together already.

I dunno, its not the best, but it didn’t suck for me. We only got 1 PS5 Exclusive TLOURemake which isnt great. But God of War Ragnarok is as big as it gets for me.
Plus I loved GT7 and Sifu. Horizon 2 was cool but i thought they would take it to another level.
Retrurnal DLC Ive put almost 100 hours into lol

But its missing something. For me FF16 and a new 1st party IP would of made it amazing

Yeah, as usual Sony is having a great year. There's also the first EVO from Sony, which may mean some intereting fighting game related major news and announcements (how about the acquisition of Capcom, Bandai Namco, ARC System Works or Netherrealm?).

There's also PSVR2, we got nice announcements this year, and pretty likely we'll get more (its release seems for early 2023).

Regarding console sales, this year they should start to get rid of the shipment issues during the 2nd half, meaning sales should start skyrocketing soon.

They are killing it but something it still off, they are too clumsy and not as on point as they were in later PS3 days and early PS4 days.

Their retro collection is embarrassing, it pisses me off, it would be so easy to do it properly. The marketing and PR is pretty bad as well. They are carried by their devs that are top tier in the industry. Jim Ryan show not speak publicly and just stay in the shadow.

Sony is carries by their dev teams, they are extremely consistent and productive, it's hard to find a single one that is slacking or not on top of things. Most other publishers are having a crazy hard time simply putting games out (regardless of quality) while Sony had a launch lineup for the PS5, a solid 2021 and what looks like a killer 2021 and a 2022 that could be even better. There is no other AAA publisher at the same level or even close.

Their hardware team did great, the PS5 overdelivered even if they are slow to get some things sorted out. PSVR2 look great but I'm really missing a portable PlayStation to get the most out of PS+.

For me, Sony has been dominant thus far this generation with their exclusives. I will be at 5 played and completed Sony first party exclusives once 2022 ends and if I include Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kena: Bridge of Spirits, it's actually 7 to 1 compared to Microsoft which has only given me a single exclusive in Halo Infinite (campaign) which was my 2021 game of the year but in general, Sony dominated launch and 2022 to where it's not even close. 2021 did belong to Microsoft though in my opinion.

Anyway, speaking of exclusives, has anyone here played Sword & Fairy games? I was looking at Together Forever which releases in a few weeks and if reviews well, I may buy it. For anyone who has played the series, how are they? How's the confidence level for Together Forever? And do you play solo or are there party members with you? Thanks.

I agree 100% they are killing it. Seems like things really aligned this gen with how many quality titles they have

3rd party deals have been an important part too of course

I can already tell that I'm going to like this gen even more than last gen 😁

As I'm planning to get more into JRPGs I'm getting Sword and Fairy it got good reviews on PC and they say the story is good. I can't wait to play it

People can cry all they want but Sony does have great taste with their moneyhats, those SE games are looking damn fine. Their indie selection has been pretty good so far as well, Shuhei Yoshida is doing a great job.
