Neither am I, would like it but might get a documentary or something to celebrate on that date. Keighly is not long after, they need some announcements there and how they are moving they keeping some in the chamber strategically for Switch 2.

December the 3rd is the 30th anniversary of PlayStation.
Maybe Sony has planned after all a big event to celebrate the anniversary of PlayStation.

Yes, please. It won't happend but I'd love to see there:
  • Available now for free trailer: My First Gran Turismo
  • Game announcement/teaser: Cory's new IP (Q3 2025)
  • Game announcement/teaser: Horizon Online (Q3 2025)
  • Game announcement/teaser: Venom (Q4 2025)
  • Game announcement/teaser: Uncharted 5 (featuring the girl but with Nate as main character) (2026)
  • Game announcement/teaser: Bloodborne 2 (2026)
  • Gameplay trailer & release date announcement: Lost Soul Aside (Q1 2025)
  • Gameplay trailer & release date announcement: Convallaria (Q1 2025)
  • Gameplay reveal & release date announcement: Death Stranding 2 (Q2 2025)
  • Gameplay reveal & release date announcement: Ghost of Wokei (Q4 2025)
  • Gameplay trailer & release date announcement: Marathon (2026)
  • Live acton movie adaptation teaser: Ghost of Tsushima
  • Live action movie adaptation teaser: Days Gone
  • Live action movie adaptation teaser: God of War
  • Animation movie adaptation teaser (Kat looking like Kat and not like Donald Trump): Gravity Rush
  • Acquisition announcement: Sony buys Capcom and Kadokawa
  • 'History of PS' themed big PSN sale that includes well known titles from all PS generations
  • Some PS1, PS2, PSP classics added to PSN/PS+
What I think we'll realistically get:
  • A random tv add with the 30th Anniversary hardware with a sizzle of already known trailers
  • Knack gets a 20% off discount

It may be that I am being too pessimistic, but why would Sony do something so shortly before Keighley's TGA?
Keighly is not long after, they need some announcements there and how they are moving they keeping some in the chamber strategically for Switch 2.
I think Sony should stop including stuff on Geoff's shows and put it only on their own Sony shows. Fuck that Doritos vulture.

Astrobot coming to PC and switch.
I doubt that. Astrobot is a literally a glorification of PlayStation history and technology. This wouldn't work on PC and or Nintendo Switch 2. Plus I don't believe there will be further ports Switch 2. Horizon Lego and Freedom Wars Remaster are old decisions of Jim Ryan and probably Hermen Hulst. Don't count to see PlayStation 1st-party being ported on Switch 2.

Yeah under Herman you would just get a tweet or if there is showcase it would have GT7, Demon Souls pc port & the Horizon monster hunter being day n date on Nintendo Switch.

PS lost there market position in consoles & vr & will just slowly wither away like Xbox & Sega by the diminishment they’ve done since 2020. PS5 is saved by GTA6 & PS6 first 2-3 years will look decent as the hardcore migrate but you will see a massive amount of PS gamers stick w PS5 & or migrate to PC, Steamdeck or Nintendo. This is taking to account PS6 is a hybrid handheld w no true permanent exclusive w the same power as PS5 ultimately you can just decide to invest in a Steamdeck or Nintendo console if they continue the rampant decline on PS competitiveness ability in the future

Where does the optimism come from that it is a hint for something? Sony may have "shown" a new Uncharted in a trailer over a year ago, and to this day nobody knows what they really showed. And shouldn't well-known insiders like Grubb or Henderson have said something about it if Sony is planning something? Grubb is always a good source these days, who has correctly advertised such events months in advance.

It may be that I am being too pessimistic, but why would Sony do something so shortly before Keighley's TGA? They can drop 2-3 trailers there cheaply and Keighley can flirt with Kojima again when he shows Death Stranding 2 again. In my opinion, it's just good marketing again. People see it, tweet and speculate about it. Just like with the "Uncharted" scene. Also, Sony very rarely does anything on a Tuesday, and afaik December 3rd is a Tuesday, and only 3 weeks away. An insider had already gotten wind of it by then.

I generally agree with you but I think if they do nothing on this pretty big anniversary, that it'll be a pretty significant indictment of Herman Hulst.

Not only is this the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, but it's also the midway point for the PS5 and there are simply too many studios who we haven't heard from at all this generation. So far PlayStation Studios hasn't done anything to celebrate the 30th anniversary of PlayStation and I think SIE can still do more like put out a PS1 collection with all the PS1 launch titles. It's like they forgot the PlayStation launched in 94 in Japan before coming to the US and Europe.

I think there is some validity to the vibe out there being super negative because Sony doesn't really give people a lot to get hyped about in advance. Astro Bot could be GOTY but there was almost no hype around it leading up to the launch (I'd say some slight hype).

I do think we need a showcase with at least 2 years worth of material. We saw Wolverine in the 2021 showcase... We don't have a date for Ghost of Yotei outside of knowing it won't come out in Q1. If Sony plans to release any games in even Q2, we should be hearing about it now.

It would actually be a great time to bring back PlayStation Experience, but they would have announced that by now. The best we can hope for (at least if anything happens on 12/3) would be a showcase.

Ideally Sony would announce:

- ICO remake in the style of SotC
- Ape Escape Reboot
- Native PS3 titles on PS5 (including physical ones)
- GoW: The Complete Greek Saga, with every entry updated to at least GoW3 engine level
- Astrobot Rescue Mission PSVR2 version + sequel
- Other PSVR2 first-party titles: Everybody's Golf, Uncharted VR, etc.
- New Infamous game
- New first-party JRPG IP alongside the acquisition of LEVEL5
- New IP from Insomniac
- New IP from Naughty Dog
- New IP from SSM
- Bloodborne PS5 version (no remake, just enough to have it at 4k+60fps) + sequel
- GT7 update to remove the online-only requirement for the campaign
- Stop of their multiplatform strategy to improve the quality of their 1st party games as we were used to
- 30th anniversary covers to be sold separately for those who missed them
- Hall-effect replacement modules for the EDGE

What would you like to see from them as part of a 30th year anniversary announcement?

It's a bit complicated. For example, I wish Ghost of Yotei wasn't coming out next year. I think the franchise could have used more time in the oven.

I also think announcing games right now could get caught up in the gravity of Grand Theft Auto 6, but I also think that announcing games now can cement some positive vibes that carries across gaming and into casual purchasing. So I think there is value in announcing your future slate of games.

We should at the very least see what Bend and Naughty Dog are working on.

We're nearly 6 years removed from Day's Gone releasing and we don't even know what Bend is working on.

I personally don't love Sony's marketing strategy. I understand why they do what they do, but I think they take it way too far.

Another LittleBigPlanet from Media Molecule would probably be a safe bet from them.

Personally, I'd like to see them bring back some classic IP.

These are some good ideas! I hope some or all of them get delivered by the anniversary!😀

That's one of the reasons why I find it hard to imagine there being any kind of showcase. If they celebrate 30 years of Playstation, then imo it will be with hardware editions that already exist, and possibly videos/blog posts from developers or Sony employees who experienced it. For me, celebrating the past doesn't really fit in with new games. If an SoP, then maybe only with titles that also shaped the old Playstation era: news about Monster Hunter Wilds, announcement of RE9, something new about some MGS projects or a new Ridge Racer. New IPs don't really fit in there, imo, and Sony won't announce or show them all at once if they plan to release at least one big title a year.

Next year, two big titles have already been confirmed: Death Stranding 2 and GoY, and then probably Wolverine in 2026. So I don't see any need to unveil new projects from Naughty Dog, Bluepoint, GG, Housemarque etc. now and put developers under time pressure. The elephant in the room is GTA 6 anyway. If it comes out in fall 2025, Sony will have no interest in releasing, showing or revealing anything during the release period. I've been hearing "Sony has to reveal games now" for some time now, especially from YouTubers like MBG or Dreamcastguy. Even though I'm excited to see what all of Sony's studios are working on, the reality is that Sony is doing well with its current strategy and only the price of the consoles is a problem. There are tons of games, and the first quarter of 2025 is already packed with big titles like AC Shadows, Civ7, Kingdom Come Deliverence 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, etc.

It's also quite possible that Sony will coordinate certain announcements with the Switch successor or various Xbox titles. If the Switch successor comes out on June 25, I'm sure that Sony will actually present a showcase shortly beforehand with reasons for a PS5 and run GoY against the "Switch 2".
