There is chance only for TV broadcast part if it was only Sony.INB4 this merger gets blocked by the FCC.
Now with two players it is really hard to FCC block anything.

i know you can't buy it with 26B, but still, with 26B you can buy 2 medium size publishers pretty easily, anyway, let's see what happensDo you believe you can buy Take Two with $26b? Talks more about $40b or even $50b.
Sony will be the majority owner of itApollo as well, so if Paramount is bought it will be owned by them both
but it is strange, don't you agree? the competition has bought 2 game publishers in the last 4 years to bolster their subscription service, you would think a company like Sony (that has a big gaming division) would want to guarantee their piece of the cake before it's too lateSomeone with brain cells here? A rarity.
Are you saying that you wouldn't want a AAA Transformers game from Guerrilla? (Just for arguments sake - not sure what they get rights-wise out of this acquisition)but it is strange, don't you agree? the competition has bought 2 game publishers in the last 4 years to bolster their subscription service, you would think a company like Sony (that has a big gaming division) would want to guarantee their piece of the cake before it's too late

i would, but i know it won't happen, Sony already owns multiple iconic IPs in their movie/tv division and they don't make games based on them, SIE is completely separated from the other divisions...Are you saying that you wouldn't want a AAA Transformers game from Guerrilla? it won't, Sony license their movies/shows to multiple subscription services
I should have said this was a joke, just like the FCCs blocking of the Acti merger. There is chance only for TV broadcast part if it was only Sony.

Sony can literally acquire any game publisher avaliable in the market, including EA, this argument that they have no money makes no sense, 8 years ago they made a bid to acquire FOX for 50B dollars while Sony Corp were valued at like 36B dollars, today they're valued at 100B+A waste of money. Who knew Sony was so rich tho? We were told they were too poor to acquire anything
Be prepared to get a barrage of people that were fine with Activision suddenly be against consolidation, "bad for consumers", monopoly, competition and all that
I can already see all the usual suspect in the gaming industry campaign against this.
They only own movie rights, the original toy makers (Bandai and, uhh, whoever the American half is) still own the brand as a whole. So, just for arguments sake, we could see a AAA Transformers game from Sony? Would they get the IP as a whole or just the movie rights?
???? SIE literally create new IPs from scratch, the licensed IPs they make today are Spiderman/Wolverine and MLB, but this has nothing to do with Sony Pictures, not sure what point you want to make hereYou really aren’t familiar with Sonys history.
They barely had the development teams to warrant doing big licensed games. They’ve really only had that in the last decade or so.
What franchises has Sony ignored in the last ten years that should have been licensed?
it literally won't benefit PlayStation in anything, will it?They only own movie rights, the original toy makers (Bandai and, uhh, whoever the American half is) still own the brand as a whole.
i don't have faith in it, not even Crunchyroll is part of PS +And the plus will be this more than likely will get added to their PS + PLANS. On top of them having owner ship of all those IP's. Top Gun, Ninja Turtles, Nickelodeon ect.
If you think this wasn't a play for content that they can use in multiple facets. You have not been paying attention. This just got them IP's they wont have to pay to license and make a boat load of money off of.
Transformers is part of this as well. And that IP is still huge.
This is the weirdest take ever. You think Sony doesn't care about their number 1 cash cow? Lol. You'd make for a great business owner. No doubt about it, Sony have absolutely 100% no trust in Playstation
