Bloober Team proved they can develop AAA quality games, with Sony's supervision and a deal with Konami for exclusivity they could be e good candidate for PlayStation Studios and the studio would be dirt cheap to acquire and to maintain

I think they need to prove themselves with their own titles.

Doing remakes you don’t need to excel at game design because everything is already done… you just need to use it and improve.

but don't you think Sony could do Silent Hill the Spiderman treatment? they don't own Spiderman's gaming rights but they highly use the IP to promote their hardware

Uh... why would they even need to acquire Bloober for this?

Bloober licensed the IP from Konami. All they'd need to do is buy the license from Konami...
why wouldn't they? if they're cheap, talented and can develop quality AAA "exclusives" for the platform, why let such a studio pass? they're as cheap as a Housemarque or a Bluepoint

Sony actually own the game rights.
They don’t own the Spider-man IP material.

Everything game related is owned by Sony… code, assets, engine, etc etc.

It just like EA owned the football game and licensed the FIFA material… when they broke with FIFA they fast launch a new football games without the licensed FIFA material.

Sony owning the game can launch the same game without the Spider-man references and Marvel can do nothing about that.

Of course they won’t do it… Spider-man name has a lot of weight.

BTW to reply your question I prefer Sony to work in their own IP that use others IPs.

That wouldn’t happen because the next silent hill and other silent hill projects are in development at other studios.

But... if your goal is to have SH console locked, you can force that as a license requirement not only from Bloober, but also any other studio.

If your argument is just they should own more studios, then the potential for more Silent Hill is not really relevant.

Bloober is only the developer. They aren't the Silent Hill IP owner, they don't decide where Silent Hill games are published.

The IP owner is Konami, they are the ones who decide if a new Silent HJll is made and where is going to be published. So if something, Sony should buy Konami instead to secure the IP.

But Jimbo signed the exclusivity of multiple Silent Hill games, so no need to acquire Konami or Bloober to secure games.

but why, tho? don't you want to have more AAA singleplayer studios? Bloober Team is dirt cheap for their talent and what they can offer
What can they offer though?

If Sony needs in house devs to remake games they already have Bluepoint and Nixxes... Bloober wants to do original content and that's a gamble considering they never made a truly great original game.
