The $70 thing isn't only a Sony thing, several AAA publishers also did it and not only in PS, also in Xbox. MS will also do it next year.

I don't see Nintendo doing it, because their games are overpriced and never discounted, and don't need the budgets that the big AAA devs spend on next gen games so don't have the same need to rise them. They have very little competition with big AAA 3rd party games on their platform and have great sales, so they will continue doing the same.

I don't see Nintendo doing it, because their games are overpriced and never discounted, and don't need the budgets that the big AAA devs spend on next gen games so don't have the same need to rise them. They have very little competition with big AAA 3rd party games on their platform and have great sales, so they will continue doing the same.

Nintendo will do it when they launch their ‘next gen’ hardware, the base model console will also be more expensive than usual. I expect the next switch iteration to be 399.99 with a 10 dollar price increase to games, because why not?

Peopel aren’t gonna stop buying their games and as of now they might as well be 70 dollars because they are never discounted. I dont see nintendo being the only ones in the industry to keep prices at 60 dollars

Sony raised their game prices because games are getting more expensive in general to develop, which is why so many japanese publishers are taking outside investments now.

They raised their hardware because of inflation. Nintendo already released a $350 console with mostly the same internals, they are not gonna price new hardware at 350 as well.

Nintendo aren’t gonna be the only gaming company to not raise prices.

Come back down to reality, boy. When Sony launched their generation inflation was at 1%, it's over 8% now and both other companies have remained steadfast in cost.

Inflation or not, Sony and Microsoft are billion and trillion dollar companies. They should absorb the costs instead of passing them on to their consumers which made them what they are in the first place.

And yet, they're still a billion and trillion dollar company. Unlike others, I don't care about the money they make or lose. That's of no concern to me. They need to figure out ways of how to make up the cost without passing it on to the consumers.

Yeah, true. But in all those aspects, there's multiple companies and whatnot providing the same aspects where as with Microsoft and Sony, there's no other company selling an Xbox or PlayStation. Like what 3DO was back in the day where it had multiple companies manufacturing the console.

True. I do think there's a lot of people who stick with a few games every year and that's it so no reason for this percentage of people to subscribe to anything.

I do think Bethesda hardcore fans will buy Starfield.

Personally, since Gears 5, im not buying another Microsoft published game as long as I can play it on Game Pass for a $10 monthly rental. Of course, im not a collector so my mentality with gaming is definitely different than others.

I also won't be buying any MS titles this gen because I think their games are of a lower quality - Halo was F2P anyway. Forza Horizon I spent 2.5 hours on before getting bored. I have Gears 4 and 5 which I bought for about £25 each but won't be buying any more.

Overall I'm happy to sub for a month here or there for any good MS games that come out.

Starfield might be the exception if Bethesda have a return to form, because it'll likely be a long game.

So from ~2005 - 2020 the price of a game was $59.99
And inflation didn't exist.....

Then 2020 - 2022 BOOM!! 8% rate!!
$10 inflation f*ckers! Microsoft justified!


Joking aside....

In 2005, games increased to $60. In 2020 that price would be ~$80. In 2022, ~$90.
We are lucky prices stayed $60 for as long as they did. Operating costs for game developers never stopped increasing yet the price of a game was the same for years. It was bound to increase. Just because other companies chose to eat that cost a bit longer does not vilify another company.

Also calling someone else out for "lacking intelligence" is probably not what you should be doing here.....
