There are plenty of nutcases on gaf who aren't much better.
Oh, I know. But at least on GAF it's more straight-up and you have the freedom to actually get into some real debates with them, even call them out on it, and not catch a warning or ban unless you make it stupidly personal (obviously).
On Reset even just specifically questioning someone on something they said that sounds kind of console-warry (specifically if it was something to the benefit of Xbox or Nintendo) gets you a warning, or a chain of people saying you're being "hostile", or a moderator dropping in to try steering the discussion narrative.
Simply challenging the prevailing narrative on Reset gets you those type of responses. And as an idea of how moderators (and users in their cliques) there try controlling narratives, they actively suppress certain threads in terms of prominence, and push other threads instead. With Xbox, threads with news that could be considered critical or criticizing of some aspect of the brand eventually get suppressed. Right now the thread about Microsoft increasing game prices to $70 in 2023 can't even be found in the first five thread page counts, but the one about their commitment for COD on Switch & Steam is easily found on Page 1.
Obviously one topic is more recent than the other, but they're only separated by a day, and there are very heavy Xbox posters from the latter thread who were damage-controlling in said thread, now all practically congregating in the former and out of wanting to steer the narrative dialog a certain direction, simply don't want to post in the other thread. For those users it's as much out of desire to put a spotlight on what's perceived as "better" for the brand's optics as it is just simply being more interested in one topic over the other. I'm sure there's a specific term for this type of thing, but I wouldn't know it.
Or if you want another example, there was a time when RedFall & Starfield were both delayed. Simultaneously, a report came out about Jim Ryan's email. The former thread was quickly suppressed by the activity in the latter, but considering some of the cliques WRT members & moderators on Reset when it comes to Xbox as a brand (I'm not saying they are all shills or astroturfers, although I would 100% not be surprised if some were), I'm certain a big degree of it was intentional. After all, why bring attention towards a potentially negative optics stain on the Xbox brand when you can exaggerate something usable as a negative optics stain on PlayStation instead?
Thanks Thicc. I appreciate the kind words.
I'm a genuine Xbox fan for this generation. I have switched primary gaming consoles the last three in a row and four out of the last five. I do heavily favor my primary gaming console and brand. I was banned on Operation Sports years ago (even though they let me sign back up) for being a massive PlayStation 4 fanboy and constantly being critical of Microsoft and Xbox One for all of last generation.
I simply go with the platform and console that I believe is the best for me and will offer me more than the competition. In all honesty, it's literally that simple.
No prob dude; I can't say I 100% understand your unbridled enthusiasm for Xbox this generation, but I can respect that you have the enthusiasm, considering you've talked about why numerous times.
I'm personally waiting for some substantial results from Microsoft in the games department before anything else, and that'll take a few years in my case, I just hope Xbox fans can understand why some people's patience with the brand have run out, or are on the brink of doing such, and it'll take a gargantuan flow of high-quality big-time games from them to earn genuine attention again.
