While Phones can be easy docked via wifi it is a pain to play it... and mobile games are not made for controllers.
It is not like Nintendo Switch.
Switch is the sucessor of Wii U and 3DS.

Switch can be docked doesn't make it a console, in the same way a PS1 with power pack and built-in monitor (that's a real thing that Sony sold) wasn't a handheld.

This apply for the consumer & publisher that seek to produce quality content to funnel people into the platform & invest into the storefront, platform & ecosystem.
You can see that this port is a desperate move to save their fiscal year which was pretty tragic financial wise. None of their releases, besides Helldivers 2, were big sellers and they even had 2 big flops on their hands.

Sony couldn't keep Spider-man, their biggest and most popular mainstream IP, exclusive for more than a year.
And they announce it before the PRO comes out to prove how much they don't give a fuck about attracting new customers.
They have nothing for the casuals anymore. Lego Horizon will also flop on PC.

Would be funny but I don't know if they can shit out a port in under 6 months. Most likely in 2023 they decided to reduce the delay for PC ports to just a year and Spider-Man 2 is the first for the new schedule.
You are aware that these ports are being made in real time, right? They make a port and then sit on it, sometimes even for over a year, and drop It when they "feel like It". (See it the most convinent financial wise)
Wouldnt be surprised, If the ports for TLOU2 and ronin were already ready (or at least close to finish) as we speak, they just have to wait for the right time to drop them.
Edit: But yeah, the performance of this port will also impact the way they look at porting in the future, same with day one stuff like Until Dawn and lego horizon.
It will be interesting seeing their their FY Q2 results next week. Hell Diver II gave then I giant boost in profits for Q4 last FY, I wonder if releasing, marketing, and refunding all copies of Concord will have quiet the difference on this years Q2 compared to last years Q2.
If Concord was going to flop this bad they should of had more than just Astro to make up for it on PS5.
It’s like Sony/PS leadership forgot it’s not just about selling your exclusive for the first year or 2 it’s also building a catalog of games from first party to use to drive new & existing users from previous gen to migrate into the new hardware/ecosytem.
You don’t even see Ratchet & Clank, GT7, GOE Ragnarok or even Spiderman remastered/Miles Morales bundle anymore. Those are games that if wasn’t on PC could’ve been used to sell PS5 + advertising the franchise + increasing the sells of game through bundles.
Nintendo over here bundling Animal Crossing & Mario Kart 8 games that are 3-4+ years old to existing & new consumers that haven’t bought a switch either own a switch & want the bundle (which in some cases have exclusive cosmetics or bonus) which leads there games to sell through the bundle & reaching these high ass numbers that look good for investors, developers & consumers. When people say Mario kart 8 sold like what 40+ million its like damn Nintendo is lit there ip are lit there ip/games are growing & makes there game more desirable as people become sheep’s & buy in into the hype but it’s just smart business decisions Take 2 does the same thing w GTA5 which is bundle w a $20 GTA shark card that is essentially you buying the shark card & getting the game itself but now Take 2 found a way to keep selling the game by bundling it w shark cards resulting in the game having these extremely high numbers. It’s like if Sony/PS bundle a $20-$40 Super credit code w physical Helldivers 2 copies where you essentially buy the game only for the super credit getting the game for free. Essentially people are buying the bundle for the bonus & not the game itself.
Spider-Man 2 didn’t even get a 2-3 years of holiday promotion or at the very least waited till the 2nd part of the spiderverse film which could’ve been tied to a dlc that included spiderverse cosmetic & sold it for $70
it’s like Sony/PS doesn’t want to monetize & squeeze the fully maximization in there games & prematurely port there games to PC where they get ignored or bought on deep discount with sells decreasing per every release.
I can guarantee you the decision to port exclusive games from publishers in this case Disney will fuck up future exclusive because now Disney is like why is Spiderman 3 not on PC day 1 or on Nintendo if PS themselves ported the previous games that they had sign as exclusive. So PS short term vision/plan will end up costing Sony/PS even more money to lock down exclusive that they have previously done or completely loose it w the 3rd party publisher pushing more multiplat because even PS themselves is heading that way.
Thoe I can see Nintendo take this opportunity to completely lock down 3rd party exclusive game from prominent franchise or sign exclusive bonus dlc/cosmetic for Nintendo version of 3rd party featuring Nintendo ip
