Announced in 2020, since then we have had no further information about the game other than the original teaser. Players are certainly excited to see the game again, but it looks like it may still be a long way from release.

As discovered by users on the internet, the ArtStation profile of Nora Shramek, lighting artist at Undead Labs, mentions State of Decay 3 has a release planned for just 2027, 4 years from now.

If this is real, it means that State of Decay 3 will be released 7 years after its official announcement, a very long period of development. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing if this is just a speculative date on the artist's part.

Nora Shramek has previously worked on an Xbox title, having helped with lighting for Forza Motorsport 6. The artist has also worked on titles such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and League of Legends.

The problem with Microsoft buying struggling studios is that they don't know how to manage them. They don't have the talent. It's not in their DNA. The worst outcome a struggling company can have isn't bankruptcy but an acquisition by MS. The fact that they insert shitlords like Stephen Elop and Mike Ybarra into companies to destabilise them and make them an easy acquisition target always backfires, because what it takes for their loyalists to ruin the company from within is something Microsoft has no ability to reverse .

At this rate, MS need about 100+ studios in order to potentially have enough content to feed gamepass.

For them to say that they have their house in order enough to deliver games on a quarterly cadence when SoD3 is expected to take 7 years in development is completely delusional at best, and a bold-faced lie at worst.
