Sounds like a normal TGS State of Play, mostly partly focused on Asian stuff.

Regarding first party, this December they have the 30th anniversary, so they could make a first party focused show in December as part of the celebrations. Would be nice to drop there a mega PlayStation showcase:
  • Reminder of the 30th anniversary hardware, accesories and merchandising available in PS Direct
  • New PS1/PS2/PSP classics added to the store
  • Wireless PSVR2 SKU announcement (new PSVR2 compatible Wipeout announced on time for launch + a few PSVR1 > PSVR2 ports like Astro Rescue Mission announced)
  • PSN 30th anniversary theme sale announced including discounts for classics from all PS generations
  • Some new game announcements (Venom, Cory's new IP cinematics + gameplay, Horizon online cinematics + gameplay, GoT2 teaser, if stars are alligned and there is an eclipse, new Wipeout by Sega -if it ever exists-)
  • Trailers of known games (gameplay debuts of My First Gran Turismo ("available today for free"), DS2, Marathon, Wolverine, Fairgame$, Astro Bot accolades trailer (including Doritos Awards GOTY winner) + free dlc announcement "available now", Helldivers 2 'Illuminates are back' game update announcement)
  • A handful remaster/port announcements (Horizon, DG, Bloodborne)
  • Trailer or announcement of a handful upcoming movie/tv show adaptation (GoW, GoT...)
  • It would be presented as a studio tour where each team would do a super quick talk about their story and talk a bit about their upcoming stuff. In case of Bend, MM, gummybears team, Housemarque, Firesprite and the ex-Deviation team pretty likely wouldn't be ready to announce anyting so would just only show some concept art in the walls or super rough early stuff in some screen and maybe maximum would only mention a super brief and high level contept of their upcoming game

You know what - new game news is never uneventful. Here is hoping we all find a gem or two in the announcements!

They better have something before we all become too deflated...
Their marketing team is busy constantly pumping things.

They just had campaigns for Concord launch, Astro Bot launch, Destiny 2 reboot announcement, PS5 Pro announcement, 30th anniversary stuff announcement, GoWR PC port release.

Soon should have releases of Lego Horizon Adventures, Until Dawn, Convallaria, Lost Soul Aside, PS5 Pro release, 30th Anniversary stuff release and something else I may forget, plus the TGS stuff I assume they'll use to drop there mostly Asian focused 3rd party, indies and PSVR2 (they didn't have 3rd party/indies/PSVR SoP stuff in a while and they have partners who from time to time have to market) stuff SoP.

I think once they have all this done they'll do a first party push, maybe for December on time for the anniversary.

Not shocked at all considering how front loaded ps5 launch was and that we are in the era of 5 year plus dev cycles.

Ok, lets say it is third party focus. Its around the same time as TGS, where sony is set to return. What can we realistally expect with all of that in mind?

Im guessing

Known or leaked games that have a good shot of being there:
-Spider Man 2-Venom DLC
-Variety of Chinese and South Korean Games
-Indie games
-VR2 games
-Destiny 2 Something
-Horizon Remaster
-Death Stranding 2 trailer
-Monster Hunter Trailer
-Metal Gear Delta
-Silent Hill 2 remake
-Assassins' Creed Shadows

Unannounced but realistic:
-Resident Evil 9
-New Tales of
-Project awakening gets revealed
-Final fantasy 9 or Tactics Remake

Longshot but not impossible:
-Something new from From Software published by Bamco?
-KOTOR Remake reveal
-Rumored Castlevania Game
-Some more xbox ports
-Some form of backwards compatibility

The Showcase is done. This is the future...

The Shattered Space deep dive was great and made me more hyped than I was before watching it. I think a lot of companies should do the same - have in depth 10 minute trailers with info, details, gameplay, etc. because it does work and gets you hyped for what's coming. I love these kinds of videos and the games that also get those long "overview" trailers which are basically deep dives. Sometimes, a game had no interest in will all of a sudden go the opposite way because of what I see in the overview/deep dive trailer.

On topic -

I don't think Showcases are done. My guess is that Sony's games just aren't ready to be shown at the level Sony wants them to be at yet.
