Nintendo Switch outselling all other consoles combined comfortably despite being the best selling hardware ever in Japan already. I heard this week is the week where PS5 finally fell behind PS4 in units sold launch aligned!

PS5 is having stock issues in Japan for several weeks already.
Not sure what is happening.

Installbase is so dumb that they are surprise PS5 hold 10k calling how it received a boost lol
When it basically sold what Sony shipped.

Are they having stock issues or Sony is clearing stock and starving the channels 🤔

But even if PS5 was fully in stock, I just don't see it doing 22-30,000 on average like it was before the price increase. I think a Monster Hunter Wild bundle was announced for Japan and wonder how PS5 hardware reacts next year compared to how the boost PS4 got in 2018 with monster Hunter World.

That is a fair point.... we don't know how much the rise in price affected the PS5 sales because most stores didn't have it in stock.

PS5 needs a price cut... 4 years without price cut have it price.

No, this is pure cap. Stop the cap bro.

It's not a supply issue; SIE are intentionally shipping what number of units meet the demand. They know the price increase was not a popular decision over there, and naturally demand would drop in response. I'm sure it's not exactly hard to walk into a Japanese electronics shop and pick up a PS5 if you want one.

Another sign that supply isn't constrained is we already have several European markets where supply wasn't a constraint and guess what SIE did? Sales promotions with temporary price cuts. They've been at it all year across parts of Europe, specifically to drive demand and flush out supply. At a time when SIE have actually been getting more releases that would typically cater to Japanese gaming tastes, why would they not have increased the supply? After all, there's already been a price hike, so it's not a case where increasing supply by say 25% would mean they're losing money on sales in that region.

You're jumping through too many hoops to try rationalizing PS5 sales currently being supply-constrained in Japan when that hasn't been the case for at least over a year. And especially more recently, again, with the price increase.

Feel free to show examples that PS5 is not having supply issue in Japan.
