The Game Awards are cringe but not for DEI or woke or whatever but because the show is just a long series of commercials and ads and fellating of mainstream media
Everyone already knows how the Game Awards are chosen. There are other gaming awards that are selected through popular choice, if that is somehow a "not rigged" system.
If you're someone who feels passionately about game awards, that's great. However, many people are only watching TGA for game trailers.

Yeah.. This isn't exactly a secret. The pretentious twats in the so-called gaming press basically rule the day. Don't expect anything they find problematic etc. The only surprise to expect is retarded shit. (see cases like 'gone home' years back and "games" nobody gave two shits about, to get any non shill spots)
Because Pride.com reviews video games, and the jury is basically just a collection of gaming media and influencers. We can see based on inclusions like Wall Street Journal that these outlets do not have to be exclusively gaming focused.
The jury selection team likely felt it appropriate to have a panel of judges with a diverse collection of perspectives on gaming.

Theres plenty other sites like gamespot etc that are more dedicated for gaming that should be more representable for the game award

I clicked the link, its a gay culture site that does game reviews among other things. There's a zillion outlets that each get one vote in the TGAs, having them there is no more having it rigged than, say, having all of those foreign language sites is rigging it towards a game from one of their countries or having all of the console-specific sites is rigging it towards their console. Well, it is called Pride.com, so you'd sort of anticipate content created or enjoyed by the LGBTQ+ community would be featured on their outlet.
Gamespot is likely in there, along with IGN, PCGamer, Eurogamer, etc.
The jury has over 100 voting participants, and they change each year, though major gaming outlets are usually a staple. The selection panel likely chose this outlet specifically because it does not exclusively focus on gaming. The intent being to have a more diverse set of perspectives on what qualifies a game as "Game of the Year."
At the end of the day, if they truly wanted to rig the awards to push an agenda, they wouldn't bother with selecting diverse jurors. The voting is all submitted anonymously, so they would just fake the numbers. Or, even more directly, they wouldn't bother with voting at all. They'd just give it to whomever they wanted.
They are rigged but not in that sense. Elden Ring DLC is eligible for GOTY so it will fracture the vote between Astrobot and FF7R.
