I understand that but you are comparing 2010 with 2022 here.
The tech and equipment used in the past was not the same a decade after… the quality increased.
Just compare movies effects nowdays with movies made in 2010.

The things they are doing to change the Calgary skyline into the ruins of other cities is more likely to be making digital matte paintings using Photoshop than anything along the lines of what The Mandalorian did. The effects are too seamless and too photorealistic to not have been at least hand-finished.I can imagine it indeed. I wonder if they are also using the same tech as the Mandalorian for some shots. I suspect a few scenes, especially more indoor ones, use that tech. But I'll absolutely admit I've not heard anything that points in this direction, it's just based on previous experience working in TV.

When they get to the stuff they shot in the town of Canmore, I will post some pics I shot there when I was on a service call for a job a couple of years back. It is a beautiful town about an hour west of Calgary, it is where the cross-country skiing events for the 1988 Winter Olympics were held.
I loved taking pics of the scenery out here to send back to the guys at head office in Toronto to make them jealous.

Sound quality... video scene recording... etc... all tech evolved.
Not just that... streaming quality (video and sound) evolved too... the quality of 4k streaming is way better than 2010 (it is still below actual 4k quality).
