I have been told by a good source that Gass games are the way to go.

yeah i dunno how you can say we moved past platformers in the 90s when they've been working out pretty well for Nintendo to this day
Indie devs too have had some success with smaller scale platformers (Pseudoregalia, Corn Kidz 64, etc). There's a place for platformers, and Sony having a revival of their own mascot platformers I'm all for.
Plus, its not like the Crash and Spyro stuff that came out in the past few years were failures. From what I understand they did pretty respectably too.
