The Resident Evil 2 Remake Has Become The Best-Selling Game In The Series

Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil 2 remake, which launched in 2019, is now the best-selling game in the series. To date, the Resident Evil 2 remake has sold 12.6 million copies, coming out ahead of Resident Evil 7 ( which has sold 12.4 million copies).

The company recently released its financial results for the second quarter of 2023 and has updated its list of Platinum Titles, representing Capcom's best-selling games. Capcom also confirmed that the Resident Evil 4 remake, which launched earlier this year, has sold 4.9 million copies. In total, the Resident Evil series has sold over 146 million units worldwide.

At the first years I believed it was not possible because REVII was putting more numbers in the quarter than REmake 2 even so it was way older game and RE2 very recent.
REVII didn't stop to sell and continue with a solid numbers per quarter.
But REmake 2 increase a lot the pace lately and finally reached REVII.

Peharps there are some rounding in these numbers...
Looking at the platinum numbers most are rounded to 0.10m.
1.60 can be 1.55 to 1.64.

Just gessing.

But if that is rounded then there is a change these rounded numbers could had added 300-400k more units than what it is actually sold combined.

Capcom in the financial were very clear REmake 2 and REVII were the best selling games in the franchise.

I feel it was just lighting in a bottle with a very strong source material. They dropped the ball with RE3Make. That game is DMC2 levels of bad and a massive dissappointment. VIII was mid AF as well.

Hopefully they are working on code Veronica as we speak.

I agree RE village was very disappointing. I hope they drop its style and continue with RE2 remake style.
