After a short delay, the latest UK boxed charts are now in and this week sees the return to a very familiar top three.

Hogwarts Legacy once again finds itself ahead of the pack, while last week's silver medalist and Christmas number one (sort of), Super Mario Bros. Wonder, has dropped a place and now sits in second. This has left room for the old faithful EA Sports FC 24 to slide into the top rankings once again after briefly spending a week at number six.

The rest of the chart is just as unsurprising this week too. The classics of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo Switch Sports and Minecraft all hang about in the top ten (because of course they do) and the rest of the lineup is much as you might expect. That said, the Switch is the most popular platform for NBA 2K24 this week, which is... something.

I remember people thinking that Xbox was doing well in Brazil and then they had to stop all production of physical media here and now they just don't sell it. There was just no demand for it. UK, Brazil, those are far from Xbox worst territories like most of Europe and Asia.

Xbox still sells surprisingly decently on UK but the games sales just don't follow up on it. This leads me to conclude that Xbox is pretty much only a Gamepass machine at this point and any dev porting their games to Xbox are wasting their time unless they got a great deal from MS to do it.

A new Series S is like $600 now and the official is about $750 (more expensive than the PS5 digial).

Xbox is pretty much dead in Brazil after this, only complete casuals (unaware of this stuff) and demented fanboys support Xbox here after this. The Xbox community is extremely toxic here, more than you can ever imagine, you have to see it to believe it.

Even adding digital doesn't change much for Xbox; we've seen cases where once digital was added ratio disparities were clearly in favor for the PlayStation platform.

Either way what's become clear is Xbox has become the compliment system for either Switch or even PS5.

Not really; if anything, PC has become the complementary platform to Switch or PS5. I'd imagine most console-only players this gen are PS5 & Switch, and those console & PC are either PS5/PC, Switch/PC, or PS5/Switch/PC.

Xbox is a distant choice in those, going by sales not just of hardware but also, even more critically, the software.

We already know that PlayStation has very strong digital sales so even if the Series had some insane 90% digital to 10% physical split it would still be getting demolished in one of it's best markets.
