So we have a suite of titles in development right now that fall into that legacy bucket, which we announced last year at The Game Awards; Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and we have another Virtua Fighter being developed. And so all that’s very exciting. And then in certain instances, we’re also doing animation series, or live-action films to augment that and be part of those roadmaps.

In an interview Sega Head of Transmedia, Justin Scarpone, confirmed that a new Virtua Fighter game is in development.

This interview is a generally interesting read, because Justin comes to Sega from Disney. A lot of the interview discusses how Sega broke into the top 40 top licenses list and how they'll be trying to expand the licensing of their IP into a greater multi-media mix.

VF5 felt like a testing ground for what would inevitably be the next entry. I really hope they pull it off because 3D fighters are in a rough spot currently.

That's cool, we need more fighting games...and more TYPES of fighting games.

Like new 2d marvel Vs Capcom or a new Killer Instinct.

This will be a great addition.

Interested to see what they do, VF never really had cheap garbage, and I'm kind of very tired of all the new fighting games and how overly aggressive they are. Everything is like a drive rush combo into 60% damage, guess wrong after you watch the combo, lucky you now you watch it again, then maybe a super too! Tekken feels like shit now with its heat system. Modern controls, comeback mechanics, and cinematic supers were a fucking mistake, just bring back it back to the basics.
