I want this to be true, but consider the physical dimensions alone. How much larger are PS5 and Series X compared to the established Switch size?

DLSS and better on board ray tracing would be fantastic news, but it isn’t literal physics defying magic.

If true, I wonder if this person saw a demo with reduced settings and didn’t have the technical expertise to identify a lesser port. It just simply looked good enough at a glance to a casual.

I think the rumor missed the part that the Switch 2 comes bundled with a whole new set of laws of physics. Newton and Einstein have dev kits right now.

We will be lucky if it is Steamdeck/PS4 level.

Forget PS5.

Fake hype around Nintendo new platform each and every time. High end consoles, zelda ll look amazing etc.

Every1 ll be hyped, consoles ll sell out for 350. Than every1 ll understand they got scamed while playing garbage like pokemon at 720p and 15fps. Oh well at least its wasnt expensive. We ll keep it.

Repeat every generation.

I doubt, I think it will be as strong or stronger than PS4/Maybe pro

Will be alot of work for Nintendo to go from Wii/Wii U graphics to current gen. Development costs and time for games, no ports left from the Wii/Wii U era.
But if true then great

Yeah right.

I highly doubt it will be on par with a Steamdeck which is basically PS4 level.

Forget PS5 comparisons.
For real. I expect a Switch 2 would be about the same size as a current Switch where the Deck is much fatter. And Nintendo would need at least 3-5 hours battery life for most games. They're probably targeting more like 10W vs Deck's 15W. Everything plays against a Switch matching Steam Deck performance, except DLSS is supposed to be the magic wand that makes compete with a PS4 Pro.

Mobile efficiency hasn't progressed in 2 years to make up for this, and I doubt Nintendo would push the envelope anyway:

Nintendo makes profit from handhelds. They now far away from locking the initial hardware.

Qualcomm told that they pitched the ideas of using Snapdragon on handhelds to Nintendo.

Nvidia tendency to screw their partners, and the price for the lowest Orin kit alone would turn Nintendo off. They also pivotd hard to industrial machines learning and AI and lower gaming hardwares market focus.

All the dots connected. You heard from here first lads.

I mentioned here before - The Switch is based on the Orin NX.

When the Tegra X1 released, it cost $599.

The Orin NX 16GB costs exactly the same.

My guess for the Switch 2 specs is something of a hybrid between the Orin NX 16GB and the Orin NX 8GB
  • Cortex-A78C [the 78C is used for laptops, I doubt they would go with the 78AE] with 8-cores
  • 8GB LPDDR5
  • Ampere GPU 1024:8:32
I could see them going with the Orin NX 8GB configuration with 6 cores, but I don't think that will give them a big enough boost.

those who think they will have a PS5 in portable between hands for only 349 or 399$ just by what some journalists speak of the matrix demo are really naïfs

you don't know Nintendo very well

it'll be a PS4+ or, at best, something close to the PS4 Pro with recent techs like dlss 3 frame gen and rt.

don't expect more

The problem with Orin is there is not enough production to lower costs.

Tegra X1 was really redundant since they mass produced for the Nvidia, it underwhelm and they got at least 20 millions in inventory. They pitched Google for tablets and then Nintendo for handhelds.

Can't say the same about Orin. Guess what chip inventory are redundant too, Snapdragon XR2...

Nintendo really all over the place when it comes to specs. They used redudant PowerPC CPU for both Wiis, remember? They uses the cheapest thing available, not the best built from ground up thing. Their philosophy changed since Wii

The damn thing must make Nintendo at least 10000 yen in profit to justify productions.

Another thing is that I doubted that DLSS gonna make a note-worthu change on Orin, because it is an weak ARM CPU

I don't know what else to say. We have plenty of leaks showing its an Nvidia SoC.

I already have 1 person in this forum that tried to claim no, it's not the Orin NX or based on it, so when the reveal occurs, I'll tag you to either laugh or say I was wrong.

We have plenty of leaks for Switch "Pro" too.

My guess was that it was a screen upgrade, turn out I was right.
