I never choose easy I start on moderate and if I like the game after I've best it ill then run through it on the hardest level

No challenge on easy mode for any game I've ever played. Even with good a.i

In my ps3 days as a kid I would check the trophy list and try and get the difficulty trophies but I've come to realize how meaningless it is, and no one cares about your e achievements.

Usually the highest difficulty. If there's a new game+ mode I start off at normal and do a second run on highest - I think that's how developers intended we should have a decent chance of beating it lol

90% of the time I play on normal difficulty. If im on pc I usually choose hard since playing with keyboard and mouse is easier for me.

I follow whatever @Bo_Hazem or @Gamernyc78 uses, normally easy mode or pussy settings.

Yeah like in Resident Evil games, it's often too hard in Hardcore mode with all the newbie traps and not knowing the layout.

Much better to finish it in normal then replay in hard-core. It's definitely meant for multiple playthroughs.

I also like how Souls games get harder each time you do a NG+, but once you finish the game your skills have already gotten better

Depends on the game, usually if theres 4 difficulty mode I’ll play on the 2nd hardest.

I wish Final Fantasy XVi would have had a difficulty setting
On NG+ It does but even that is still too easy. Even without the Rings the combat was way too easy in that game

Normal, as most games are meant to be played. Never disappointed at the fake virtue signaling that goes on in these threads. Games should be enjoyed on normal by and large.

I don't have anything to prove by playing harder difficulties and gaming is something I do to relax, so I almost always play on the easiest setting. I get really frustrated when I'm playing a game and just keep dying. If it's a game that I'm serious about getting the platinum for and a harder difficulty is required, I'll give it a shot, but generally I stray away from games that require you to play the hardest difficulty for plat.

Default settings, whatever the developers intended.

Games are tuned easier than they were used to generally speaking. Normal tends to be too easy and usually hurts my experience with the game. Harder difficulties tend to require actually understand how to play the game.

Not crazy about being given options either. I would like the game designed for its difficulty and pacing. Original RE4 on GameCube was tuned perfectly at the time for instance. But options are better than having to beat a game once thru to unlock hard mode etc…. If a trophy is tied to it even better… I’ll go for it and probably enjoy the game more because of it.

And then you have cyberpunk where I’m playing on hardest and still broke the game to one shot everything within first 10 hours. They’re not fixing that. Any difficulty in that game is just randomness.

I very much dislike easier games. If it’s a shooter or brawler I kinda have to go to harder difficulties always. Ive been playing these kinds of games for decades. And to be honest, i play games to be challenged… not watch a movie.

Whatever is the one devs intended to be played as the main one. Normally it's the 'normal' one.

First playthrough always normal, regardless of genre.

Playing a game on higher difficulty for the first time takes away from the game for me. Instead of soaking in the atmosphere and story, exploring and enjoying it, it turns into a desire to just go through the game and not explore because I have resources to save.

Absolutely love high difficulties. They make you understand the game mechanics and layout. Just not on the first playthrough.

90% Normal. But if I know the game/genre - I will sometimes go for Hard/Tactical/Etc. I just did that for Baulders Gate 3 having played all of their games.
