So what game made you a fan of video games?
When did you become a hardcore gamer?

Were you a casual gamer until you played a certain game? Or were you a gamer through and through from the moment you started playing games?

For me, I was a fan when I started playing games like Mario, Kung Fu, Batman as a 4 year old on the NES.
But it was when I first played Street Fighter 2 on the arcades and tried my aunts Revenge of Shinobi on the Megadrive. I was blown away, I knew it was a my favourite hobby over cartoons, movies, toys, comics etc.
The responsive controls, cool characters, gameplay, colours and awesome music was just so good.

How about you?

Hmm…

I played games earlier in my childhood that I could remember … but it wasn’t until the snes that the memories really start.

Street Fighter 2 and the original Star Fox were the first games I truly loved.

I loved Revenge of the Shinobi and Strider on my Megadrive.

Red alert on PC was another favourite one.

Also, I saw Mortal Kombat being played at the arcade. This guy was doing all the fatalities on his opponents; it was the coolest thing I had ever seen in my life, lol.

Yes on the Mortal Kombat lol. I remember seeing it for the first time in Wales, an arcades at a seaside peir. The older kids were playing it and doing fatalities and I couldnt do shit.
I remember going back to school and telling my friends about MK and a Bruce Lee looking character in Super Street Fighter, they didnt believe me about Fei Long haha.

yep, I remember playing versus this guy, and I was so shit, it was like a goose looking to get stuffed.

In the end he used Kano's fatality on me and pulled my beating heart out and held in front of me, there were people being behind me cheering FFS lol.

I guess it all started with Atari Space Invaders at home, and Pizza Hut Table Top Asteroids. But I was an on again off again gamer on PC and various consoles until ...

The real hook for my adult gaming life came with Tomb Raider and Resident Evil on Playstation 1. I can still remember my girlfriend (now wife) both jumping at our first real gaming jump scare: the window dog attack!

I can't remember what came first, but I have childhood memories of playing arcades and with the C64. I guess I became an "hardcore" gamer thanks to P&C classics like Monkey Island, Broken Sword etc.

My brother (and two, different Uncles) had become gamers with the Atari ST in our family.... eventually I was born and I got to witness how fun video games were.
We had Time Bandit, Crack'd, Test Drive, Dungeon Master, Terrorpods, Ninja, Pac-Man Mania, Mission Elevator, etc.

I think it was Super Mario All-Stars on SNES that really made me into a console gamer.
Shortly after, before I truly became a hardcore console fan (with my PS1 and beyond), I got back into PC gaming with Age of Empires 1, Starcraft 1, Fallout 1+2, Command & Conquer Red Alert, Diablo 1, Lands of Lore, Nox, etc.

I think I became a "true hardcore" nut around the time the PS3 started having trophies, and STEAM was becoming a big thing with CS 1.6, Day of Defeat, Half-Life 2, etc.

I was always drawn to it since I was a kid, pretty much no one around me was as fascinated by it as I was.

I was building my own PC at a time where I didn't even have access to the internet and I wasn't even 10 yo because my parents were never willing to buy me new consoles but were ok with buying me a PC every 3 or so years. :ROFLMAO:

MasterSystem, Mega Drive, GameBoy, SNES, N64, PlayStation, consoles were awesome back then as well.

2D, 3D, CDs, arcades, local multiplayer, LAN, online multiplayer, MMOs, I got into it at the right time to see it all when it was fresh. These days I just hate most games with very few exceptions and with good reason. 😌
