Since almost the beginning but since this shithole lags behind the rest of the world in everything, the console came here a bit later.

Had every console since then, except the PSP Go and the Portal. Still have all PS consoles in working order, handhelds included.

Played on the first PlayStation shortly after the european launch, but only possessed an own one around the end of 1997, trading in a Sega MegaDrive and a bunch of games for it. Never skipped a PlayStation (console or portable) since then.

I got a Nintendo 64 as my first gaming console in 2000
Got my second console Playstation 2 a few years later, probably 2003 or 2004.
I picked 2002-2005.

Started in 1994 PS1.
We’d rent the PS1 from the store with a few games. When it came to FF7 times my brother and dad got one for their birthday from a friend. The Sega Saturn and N64 was mine lol

We didnt normally buy games but rent them, have a bunch of demo discs. but we’d buy a few games like ISS Pro (PES). By the end of it, classics like RE2, FF8, Tekken 3, Xmen vs Street Fighter, Grandia, Crash 3, Paraside eve, Suikoden 2 MGS etc etc.
Probably the best generation for JRPG’s, 2D Fighters and new genres in 3D like Resident Evil, MGS etc

I’d Say Playstation has had alot of ups and some downs. PS3 being the hardest gen for them. Otherwise all their Home consoles have outsold their competitors apart from the Wii and PS3. Apart from the Wii, PS3 has outsold every home console not made by Playstation.

But I’d say some the fanbase is more unhappy now then PS3 gen, and theres some potential issues showing. Nothing Playstation cant fix like the PS3 gen, but its gonna have to come from the top

PS3 had like tons of exclusive first party games with less studios. They build a ground under them.. PS5 destroyed it.
You can't just usher gamers for 2 gens and then do 180 on them and expect nothing.

Early 1997.

Went into Dixons to get a Sega Saturn with my mum.

Still remember to this day the Dixons worker telling my mum to wait a couple of weeks and get a PS1 cause it’s better and cheaper. It was out of stock at the time.

I was almost in tears at the thought of waiting 2 weeks but accepted it.

Got a PS1 with Pandemonium, Alien Trilogy, Hardcore 4x4 and Olympic Soccer.

Haven’t looked back.

Since American launch.
The Brazilian gray market was very efficient to have the console days before the American launch.

Why not the Japanese console… well at time TVs have issues with consoles outside America… the color system.

While I played a lot of Japanese only releases… the console itself should be made to America.

May 1, 1996. Since then, a PlayStation has been my primary gaming console, although I've owned almost every console. An honorable mention goes to the Xbox 360, which was awesome between 2005 and 2008 until Xbox lost its way.

September 1996 - Dad brought home a chipped PS1 from Korea; played bootleg games. Had a mix of burned CDs and legit copies: Ape Escape, Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Gex, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. A lot of the standout titles over the course of owning that thing.

Now that you mention it, I've never met someone who didn't have a chipped PS1. Same for someone who didn't have to use the "upside-down" trick to play some games because of the laser.

2002 for GTA Vice City then played some of the PS1 library through BC since I could get the games cheap through a friend's of mine brother who worked at a game store at the time.
