This is not like the platform doesn't have its share of exclusive content.

Now, I would like to know what SSM and ND are doing... but I guess we'll see in time.

Games take longer to make. More news at 11. Sony is not to blame here. Gamers expect best in class production values and those take time. The alternative is that they start putting out princess peach level games more often.

But the core PS fan base from the post uncharted 2 days won't like that.

There are no games, 80% of the studios hasn't delivered a game early this gen. It's all in shambles. The live-service games will flop like Helldivers 2 did, PS Studios didn't triple in size this gen but shrunk.

Naughty Dogg has been the most productive: LoT collection, LoU part one remake, LoU2: remaster + dlc.
Studios should take note of Druckman how to run PS studios.

PS4 had better output in the same timeframe KZ:Shadowfall, Knack, Order 1886 and Driveclub were miles better then what PS5 has delivered.

We need Layden back to lose billions in Gaikei and passion projects like Dreams. Jim Ryan made a big mistake not signing the 3year deal with MS he is going to miss out on Toys for Bob. It's all his fault!

This kind of videos and complaints from the pc and xbox community are a good argument for not porting games. If you are only going to release a couple of games on a generation you might at least have them locked to your system.

In the last few recent months we got:
  1. Spider-Man 2
  2. TLOU 2 remastered
  3. Helldivers 2
  4. Granblue Fantasy Relink
  5. FFVII Rebirth
  6. Rise of the Ronin
  7. Stellar Blade
Every generation the AAA games take longer to be made. Nowadays big AAA games take 5-9 years to be made, and the ones to be released now or in the next few years also had covid related delays.

That is the reason of why all the teams from all the devs from all the publishers now take longer to release games.

FromSoft or Insomniac, unlike most other AAA studios, they had multiple development teams since many years ago, this is the reason of why they have a higher output. Their games take the same to be done comparing to other studios, but they release more games because they have more teams.

Hermen and Jim Ryan have been growing the amount of people and teams inside basically all their internal teams during the last 5 years. But these teams need time to be created and to release their first game.

They also acquired more development teams and more support teams, plus also release smaller projects as ports/remasters/remakes mostly developed by external studios as fillers.

Games are taking longer and several studios were working on games scrapped their projects(Factions/Twisted Metal/Deviation) and a couple unknown games we know nothing about.
This essentially means that quite a lot of years of manpower were lost.

Now that games may very well be taking 5 years to make on average for big titles, a cancelled project is going to set back a studio output immensely. If anyone is wondering why so many studios/publishers are doing focusing on they core IPs and doing iterative sequels instead of being "creative" and doing something different, it's because of this.

Sony hedged quite a few bets in the GaaS space and quite a few of those failed.

That's all well and good and those projects definitely are great in terms of RoI and margins, but the cancelled TLou factions was a big money pit and loss of manhours.
The scope of the game was clearly too large for ND was quite the project management failure, not only that the cost opportunity of a great TLoU Online game was potentially IMMENSE in terms of revenue generation.

So they admitted PlayStation had a great first quarter but still they are concerned about games? But eventually went on to explain why the games are taking longer to be released? Good job IGN

It takes time to produce games at the level of quality and fidelity that Sony does, which is why the company needs to expand its first party studios and acquire new ones.

maybe it is enough these doom and gloom articles and thread about Playstation and PS5.
like almost all PS threads is treated the same way.
can we fucking move on from this constant irrational and illogical negativity towards Playstation and PS5

like you are some sort of negative eating vampires. can't live without that shit.

i gave you an opposite argument where it almost never happens.

we wouldn't have doom and gloom if Sony actually revealed some fucking Games, it isn't a hard concept for even you to grasp
