Talking to @Remember_Spinal spawned this very interesting poll for the gamers here - so give props to him!

We've all played several games throughout our lives and it's not time to discover what is the most popular game developer on this site! Your opinions are valued but you can only select ONE! Tell us why it's your favorite game developer and let's share our thoughts!

After much introspection about my fav game developer, I have to ignore the visual feast of most games and come to grips with which games actually keep me glued to my computer - and - without a doubt, I am always spending way more time playing FROM games. Each of these games somehow bring the anger out in me and the overwhelming joy after beating a boss or a tough enemy. No other game has been able to do that consistently. The gameplay mechanics are so important, the weapons used, the lore, and the number and variety of enemies is second to none. I never get tired of seeing what I'll run up against next compared to most games where their number of enemies is a meager few with variations of the same enemy. FROM games literally seem like these guys go off in a dark world and come back with the weirdest "other-worldly" kind of enemies anyone can imagine.

NOTE: The Poll category is limited to only 10 choices. I tired to pick the top 10 most popular developers that have developed AAA games. If there isn't your choice on the poll, please send me a reply and I'll update it.

I might have chosen Kojima if he was in there...

But it was already difficult to choose between Insomniac and Santa Monica Studio for me.

If you guys feel like I should replace a company for another, I'll do that. OR - you being the boss - can increase the poll to 20 or more choices.

I’m not really sure i can choose one.

I also think it doesnt’ make sense to list individual developers with publishers. Nintendo, Rockstar, Ubisoft, and Square are way bigger than naughty dog, Santa Monica, etc.

You’re essentially asking to choose between developers with 200-400 people, and one or two game franchises with publishers that have 1000’s of devs with 20+ franchises.

Its either nintendo, bethesda, square, ubisoft, SIE, or its luminous, Santa Monica, creative business unit 3, ubisoft Montreal, etc.

Need some consistency

I dont mind, depends on how the others feel....

Maybe an 'Other' option would have covered it with them explaining in their post below.

Excellent feedback. I want just developers but Nintendo is it's own developer and distributor.. Ubisoft also distributes their own games. I'm looking for popularity of the games franchise.

Below is the list of Ubisoft’s game development studios worldwide.

Ubisoft studios under its own name:

  • Ubisoft Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
  • Ubisoft Annecy
  • Ubisoft Barcelona
  • Ubisoft Blue Byte, Düsseldorf, Germany
  • Ubisoft Blue Byte Mainz, Germany
  • Ubisoft Casablanca, Morocco
  • Ubisoft Chengdu, China
  • Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Germany
  • Ubisoft Japan
  • Ubisoft Milan, Italy
  • Ubisoft Montpellier, France
  • Ubisoft Monthreal, Canada
  • Ubisoft Nagoya, Japan

Both nintendo and ubisoft (and other publishers) act in the same way SIE does. They have their publishing label of ‘Playstation Studios’ and all the developers underneath that banner, along with the 3rd party games it publishes.

Understood. I'm more leaning on the mentality like this: I love Assassin's Creed games and I know the developer Ubisoft (don't care which building or branch) makes it so I'll vote for Ubisoft.

Does that make sense?

I do like Arkane studios, Neatherealm studios and 3d realms.

Insomniac, probably for their exceptional output.

Yeah, but its just not really fair cause if i say ubisoft is my favorite developer, im also including Mario + Rabbids, South Park Stick of Truth, Rayman, Far Cry, The Division, etc.

If i say Sony Santa Monica is my favorite developer im only talking about God of War. I know its much more work to figure out which ubisoft or nintendo teams do what games, since they aren’t as obvious about it as Sony are but thats kind of the reality.

What i was talking about in the last thread was publishers. Sony is a publisher where if they left gaming, I wouldn’t really be invested in it anymore. theres no other publisher I can say that about.

If its just about developers well, the competition is solely between all of SIE’s studios and nothing else even comes close on an individual basis.

Edit—-

There are also multiple studios within ubisoft that work on Assassins Creed. Same with Activision and CoD. Its not 1:1 developer=game series

Most people will determine their best developer based on the games that they like coming from that developer. It doesn't matter if the developer made 1 game or 100 games. This poll is based on what company continues to please you from generation to generation.

And no, it wouldn't be fair if I turned the poll into Sony only games. There are lot of excellent games developed by other studios that people would prefer over Sony.

I didn’t say to turn the poll into only sony studios but it doesn’t make sense to list single studios that make or or two games to publishers that make like 15 and just picking the best game out of it.

It’d be far easier to just List SIE amongst the group.

Like obviously capcom or square enix as a whole I’d chose over just naughty dog. But im not choosing any individual capcom game or studio over naughty dog

Guerilla no way in hell deserves credit for death stranding. Remove that disgusting lie.

My picks. Bungie, Capcom (the whole damn company is amazing) , From Software. Kojima Pro and Santa Monica are kinda there too.

How is it a lie, they provided the entire game engine and technical assistance, as well as co production to Death Stranding.

More than 70 Guerrilla Games developers worked on Kojima Productions' Death Stranding, the game's credits reveal. Death Stranding uses Guerrilla's Decima game engine – the same tech behind PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn – and it was known some support from the Killzone creator would be required during development.

You acting like they designed the game. They provided the engine.

Is epic the developer of FF7R since it used unreal?

No.

Kojima Productions developed Death Stranding.

What fucking bullshit :ROFLMAO:

And then

I dont know man, the article says:
According to the game’s credits, Guerrilla contributed to Death Stranding’s environment art, animation, visual effects, cinematics, audio and more.

More than 40 Guerrilla engineers worked on the game, including Horzion Zero Dawn’s lead game programmer (Tommy De Roos), lead programmer (Frank Compagner), lead AI programmer (Arjen Beij) and technical director (Michiel van der Leeuw).

So probably more than just game engine like others using unreal by the sounds of things. Credit them? Maybe not but teams like Bluepoint should get more credit for there assistant work so maybe Guerrilla too
