Which Sony studio will close next?

I don't know, but Xbox is for sure the next gaming brand to close shop. Hardware sales down 30 %, GP subscribers missing target after target by a good margin, GP losses mounting, and Actibliz deal failure... Even Phil Spencer looks so depressed you have to wonder if he'll commit suicide before or after Xbox dies.

I suspect the shareholders won't enjoy wasting that much money very long, especially since there's no real hope anymore of turning the ship around (last hope was buying the market itself with daddy MS money, but now any other huge deal would be rejected for the same reason as Actibliz so that ship has sailed too).

MS is a big margin corporation. Only reason they were in gaming is they hoped huge margins there too, at least one day. Now that they know it won't happen, the investment makes zero sense. It brings margins down and it doesn't really fit anywhere strategically with Office 365, Windows and Azure. I doubt we'll get another generation of Xbox.

Days Gone was a 7/10 game and it sold well. So Bend Studio should be save.
Wasn't good enough for Sony, they aren't allowed to make a DG2. Its a better choice than your's, which includes a small studio with dedicate fans and one thats grinding away on the GaaS shit that Sony wants to focus on now.

Bend's boss told the team that Days Gone 2 was not to be pitched to Sony. That's from Garvin and Ross. Sony never had the chance to reject it.

They understand the internal politics of the company, the day they hire a DEI team the company will have everything screened by these people, and a game with some white biker may just make their mouth foam.

It sold well enough and they are looking to make a TV show. It's possible they could have greenlit a sequel if the team were allowed to pitch it

True, the game directors wanted to make a sequel but the studio head inside Bend didn't want a sequel, so he didn't allow them to send the Days Gone pitch to Sony's HQ. Sony greenlighted the first post-Days Gone game pitch that Bend sent them: the new IP where they are working on.

On top of that Sony funded post Days Gone post launch content, ps5 patch, PC port and an upcoming confirmed movie (not a tv show).

Sony is all in with Bend.

I don't know, ask Shu.
Shu no longer works with 1st party games, he moved to what he wanted to do and pitched to Jimbo: to build and manage PlayStation Indies, a division to scout and discover indies, sign some deals (examples are Kena, Sifu, Stray, Rollerdrome...) help them and indies in general in whatever they can support them.

Could media molecule be a candidate? The days of the cute mascot are long gone, not sure what there is for them post Dreams. The have a massive legacy for making ps what it is today, but then so did Evolution.

Hope to be wrong.

People seem to keep ignoring the fact Days Gone also sold incredibly well on PC. The game clearly connects with an audience not entirely verbal online.

He's being a hilarious goof ball but I don't think he's really breaking rules yet. Not that I've seen anyway.
