Without the pandemic, this would be the PS5 lineup up until this point.

2020:
1 - Demon's Souls
2 - Sackboy
3 - Spiderman Miles Morales
4 - Astro's Playroom

2021:
1 - Returnal
2 - Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart
3 - Horizon Forbidden West
4 - God Of War Ragnarok
5 - Gran Turismo 7

2022:
1 - Spiderman 2

2023:
1 - Helldivers 2
2 - Concord
3 - Stellar Blade
4 - Rise Of The Ronin

2024:
1 - Venom
2 - Death Stranding 2

makes me wonder, 2021 would've been a gigantic year first party wise, the pandemic fucked a lot of things, God Of War Ragnarok was a 2021 title, just like Horizon Forbidden West, i feel like everything needed to be delayed 1+ year because of studios being closed and people working from home, i feel like next gen we'll have a perfect lineup and years like 2023 and 2024 with only 1 first party game won't happen anymore

Didnt the Wolverine leak said it would be released on 2026? So I would put Venom, the 2025 game, in 2024 instead

It also make me wish that in this scenario GoW and Horizon would be pushed to 2022 so Spider-man 2 could get that 1 year of development that was lacking... so many cool cut content to add to that rushed 3rd act and basic features like NG+ and chapter selection that were delayed

The pandemic did not delay every release by exactly one year. Some games were hit harder than others.

I know, Im just going with the OPs logic where they put every game post 2021 a year earlier

included Venom in the place of Wolverine, but yeah, the pandemic affected most of these games

I always put it at the idea between all the BS in 2020, 2021 and even early 2022 we got put a full year behind on content. So yeah, there's a lean time where we got screwed but that time is over and as far as games per year we are at the same place we always would have been at.

If anything the pandemic is causing the "crash", since money poured in during it to meet the demand that the suddenly bigger vidya market was going to demand.
The crash was inevitable. The demographics have aged out of the market. The only group hanging around are those who've gamed for a long time, the hobbiest and enthusiasts.
Everyone else has moved onto free dopamine courtesy of tiktok, watching people play games on YouTube or doing something else entirely.

During the pandemic The industry made hay while the sun shined and poured money in, but expected that upwards trend to continue when it was never going to.
If I wasn't telling the truth yes.

You can't really believe that, can you? I mean, honest? I am having trouble expressing my feelings on that politely.

Not just tiktok but the general idea of people leaving gaming for another fad, it's inevitable and the time is here.
PSwii60 gen sold 80 mil ps360 and 120+ million Wii. There was some cross over.
PS4/xb1 gen sold 120+ mil PS4, 20 mill Wii u and 50 mil Xbox.
This gen we have 150 mil handhelds over seven years. 20 mil Xbox and 50 mil PS5. If this is a traditional 5 year gen will we see another 70 million console sold in a year? Two years? Five?

Subs are down. Mau are down. Attach rate for PS5/Xbox is in the toilet. Some say "well ms are shit", but they aren't as shit this gen as they were last gen. Where's the sales?

How can hardware be up but subscriptions, psn and xbl be down? How can top selling games only attract. 15%~ of the install base?

There's no games being made because there's no one there to buy them. May as well release one banger a year and one mega franchise a generation to bring the mass market crowd back.

If COVID and lockdowns hadn't have happened, what games would we have had? Those six year Dev times didn't appear because of COVID. Any game delayed because of it has released by now.

Switch acts as a console, taking it as such consoles are still doing as they have over the previous three gens. And all with most PS/XB releases still coming out on the previous gen.

Switch is a handheld. Otherwise we have to add 2/3/DS and vita figures in to the previous gens.

All the while taking into account that there's supposed to be more people gaming now than 12 years ago (when the xb1+PS4 launched). There's supposedly more gamers now, thanks to COVID and lockdowns giving people a taste of gaming. Yet...where are they? Where's the increase in customer base?
Why is the attach rate dog shit for Sony and Microsoft? Why aren't the 60 million (I said 50 previously, I was wrong) PS5 owners buying games? We know Xbox owners aren't buying any either.

The question remains, how are the tens of millions of previous gamers gaming or being entertained? Because it sure as shit ain't with current gen consoles.

I don't remember being able to plug part of my 3DS into a tv while using the rest as a controller. Because I couldn't, because unlike the Switch it doesn't act like a home console.

Switch is a handheld. If you can walk around with it, it's a handheld.
I can connect a keyboard and mouse to my phone and plug it into the TV, it doesn't make it a PC.
