Xbox Appeared to Embargo PS5, PS4 Versions of Some Showcase Games

I cant remember when Sony did the say for a reveal embargo? Actually wondering if they did?

the first time I heard of such a thing was with Tomb Raider on xbone, it took a little while before the publisher was allowed to say it was timed exclusive (and it was much better on PS4).

What I recall from Sony's presentation back then was that each trailer was shown with one of the following:
- Console exclusive
- Timed console exclusive

Making it clear what the deal was. Obviously you can't expect a platform holder to show all platforms that do not belong to them at the end of a trailer, but at least do not try to obfuscate the information about the game coming to other platforms at some point.

They also locked it to 30fps on the PS5 version and paid for next gen timed exclusivity I don’t remember how many months it was but at least by the time the next gen ps5 upgrade came I was able to get it for $30. If they pull that crap again with LAD8, I might be done with Sega entirely.

Which is ironic, since the term "Moneyhat" was born from MS buying off devs to kill PS2 exclusives and bring them to the first Xbox.

If MS didn't buy exclusives, they wouldn't have had a software lineup for their first console.

Halo, Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee, Steel Battallion, Ninja Gaiden and others I don’t recall right now.

Lorne Lanning from Oddworld Inhabitants admitted in an interview during the time he was out of gaming that he had actually accepted scripts from MS PR for some interviews about the sudden shift from being a PS-focused dev to being an Xbox one, and noted that what MS paid to keep Munch and Stranger’s Wrath off the PS2 was too absurd of an amount for him to say no to.

Then he discovered how bad working with MS could be for a game dev, and that’s why Oddworld went away for a long time.
