I still have no idea what Spencer is supposedly celebrating here.
Dollar today is 1 to 5 reais.
So today R$4000 is like $800… it is more expensive than US but not the most expensive place.
Plus here you have something that I don’t see in US… parceling without interests… so you mostly like buy it at 10 x R$400 (10x $80) so it makes it more manageable.
Even so most don’t buy expensive consoles here… we are a 200 million country and I don’t believe 1 million has PS5… so it is way less than 1% of the population having access to these devices.
Phones are another story… everybody has one… and a lot have iPhones here and it most cheap iPhone 15 at launch was around R$6000… the most expensive near R$14000.
Android is cheaper but still range from ~R$800 like Galaxy A03 to ~R$12000 most expensive Galaxy S23 at launch.

I saw that, they said it was a tax raised on luxury technology, why didn't the Series X and PS5 consoles go up then?
And this is a lie. The taxes raised for people importing goods more expensive than $50. This doesn’t apply to companies importing items, it works very differently for them and it’s way cheaper, so no console is affected by this.
