Its American politics looking for a come up, ms most likely in his pocket. And ofc republican….
I bet if the next FTC made of republican and they pull the same tactics, they gonna be asked the same shit by Dem Microsoft donors.

I just wish at least next FTC made up with more competent people, I don't care who are them from, they are all the same. If they gonna block deals, at least do a good job.

ABK leaving Nasdaq July 17?
Does this mean anything important or no? Or is this a desperate move?
A-B is not leaving NASDAQ, its being taken off of NASDAQ's index lists (stock buckets) because they think the merger is likely to happen and its better to do that in a controlled fashion than to just wake up one day and realize their "100 Safe Tech Stocks" is now just 99.

The time for remedies is over and the CMA's decision is final.

If there's more talk between them, it's because they are working on a whole new deal.

MS wouldn't have paused their appeal if they thought that the current deal had a chance.
I'm willing to wager that there's some sort of handshake deal going on behind the scenes.

I mean, 'everything' is possible, but that would imply that the CMA have been corrupted.

If the 'handshake deal' is a total Activision and CoD divestment, then sure, that was always what was required to satisfy CMA.

It also opens the door for a whole lot of mischief for future antitrust cases.

I don't see why the CMA would have put forth their statement this week that their decision is final though.

And ATVI is still part of a bunch of other indexes.

It makes sense for NASDAQ 100 since ATVI have over performed and likely to dip a bit if the deal is abandoned.

I don't really like to go into intentions of people I don't know personally.

But it's very clear that something is brewing between the CMA and Microsoft, nothing else explains the CAT appeal stay.

I can't believe how some of you can say this.

The CAT appeal has been stopped because the merger in it's current form in the uk is no longer being pursued by MS they want to modify it.

What do you want the CMA to do here? Go to trial with MS with the CAT on a deal that is no longer valid?

From MS point of view, the appeal stoppage makes perfect sense :

1) Wait until the judge comes out with a favorable ruling in your favor against FTC
2) At the same time, release the news that the appeal is 'paused' in the UK
3) Media/Shills falsely reports the CMA have capitulated and looking to 'settle'

If MS out of the blue said they were stopping their appeal at the CAT, everyone would have thought it meant MS is abandoning the deal, because there would be no other reason.

But by pairing the two news, everything gets muddled and it makes it look like the CMA got 'spooked'.

It's a PR narrative perfectly delivered.

This appears to be exactly what happened.

Ok, but come Midnight on the 18th whats all of this mean? MS closes over the CMA? Or this is all a smokescreen and kicking up as much mud as possible before ABK walks away?

Unless there is something we don't know, it appears to mean "nothing." CMA has still blocked the deal, and they said globally. They didn't change their stance, MS just perfectly worked the press. If they try and close over the CMA, MS would still be in for a world of hurt.

I don't know about third party stuff but NASDAQ actually took them off of all their big indexes.

Yeah we're thinking logically and what other companies would do but this is Microsoft. They are cannibals. They think the rules don't apply to them.

It would be interesting to see how MS even handle ABK. They created 343 and the Initiative. It didn't go well. They bought Rare which was arguably close to the size of Activision alone here, and well that shit bomb.

So I wonder if they can turn COD from money cashcow into irrelevancy in just a few years.

Hopefully Sony can create just some bandaid solution to COD and still manage to grow larger.

Its going to be a disaster of epic proportions. Lead talent will probably leave after this years COD comes out and if COD does take a year off, something will fill the void.

I find it funny that Lulu is especially one of the most toxic personel in this deal.

If this fell through imagine she gonna have to negotiate with Jim and other PS executives.
