The RT on PS5 is undoubtedly what settings generally are on console, some undefined custom setting that falls short of the PC's lowest setting for RT.

I don't think they realize just how minimal the RT hardware is in that console.
Yeah, you're clueless. Go watch Digital Foundry breakdowns of Rift Apart and Miles Morales where they say that the PS5 is displaying INDUSTRY LEADING RAY TRACING in those Playstation games...they say it's far ahead of everything on PC...and in fact the only PC games they could even bring into the discussion was Metro and some marble game lol

OK boomer bot

Even assuming you are telling the truth, you're the rare exception if your PC is truly that capable

They did a recent study on steam, and over 90% of PC gamers had PCs with lower specs than a steamdeck lmao...and steam deck is PS4 level

So in actual reality, youre talking about the vast majority of PC gamers having PCs which are MUCH MUCH WEAKER than a PS5

ps and of course you sold your PS5, the 1 with actual games, and kept your BONEseriesX the 1 which has NO games.. youre a blatant xbot....the more you hide behind your PC the worse it makes your xbox look....guess xbox is so garbage it's not even worth you getting behind it..."bu muy PC".....and your PC destroys your xbone

Boomer bot! How dare you!

So why does a smaller (prob still much much higher install base then the ps5 lolz) customer pool negate the power advantage?

I sold my Xbox long before the ps5, no point in keeping it when had a pc. Sold the ps5 to up.

What in gods name are you smoking, that's not even remotely what they said, AT ALL.

They were impressed with the implementation given the limited capabilities of the hardware. You're trying to lie to people who already saw these videos.

The same argument can be used against the PlayStation ecosystem specially in this cross gen period. There are over 115 million PS4 in the wild VS. 20 million PS5. Does it make playing on PS5 any less relevant or appealing because “duh, most people still play on last gen hardware”?

No.

Sorry, I have to interject here because I'm all about facts.

There isn't a single game from Sony using RT that's "industry leading". If we are going to get technical and give such a label, it would be a game that implements the most RT features of any other game, most of which just implement reflections (like the PS games do). That would be Metro: Last Light. Control uses a lot of RT features and so does Cyberpunk (to a smaller degree).

In short, no one can declare a RT feature in a game "industry leading" if it only implements reflections. That's not enough of a change in the graphics tech to make such a claim unless no other game implemented MORE than just reflections (which is not the case).

It is lower than PS5 userbase.
If you take Steam data around 10-15m on PC has similar hardware to PS5.

Top hardware is even lower like 1-2 million.

Below PS5 hardware is like 130m or more.

But why are we jumping to whether the number of PC owners has the proper hardware to outperform the PC? Isn't that like a desperate Hail Mary throw to win an argument? The bottom line is that there is hardware that exists today that is the best performing hardware on the market to run games at the highest fidelity by which the developer's maximum input is achieved. It shouldn't be weighed less if there are only a small number of users that have such hardware.

Using power as a metric as to why someone do or should choose a platform over the other is a broken argument anyway (price is a legit one). This is also true for my fellow pc users who wave their 3090 dick around in platform war discussions. This is also proven everyday by the number of people who still choose low specs PC over consoles and by the amazing success of the Switch.

When choosing where to game, power isn’t the number one factor for the vast majority of people. Price, convenience, features and games usually are.

And it's more than 15M... that's for damn sure. 15M at least that have 30 series cards that are superior to PS5... That's not even counting 20 series, and cards like Titan RTX, and AMDs GPUs.

How many people do you think are on Steam?

You can check yourself it is public.

And no… the number of players with RTX 3000 are not that high (I did not sim all but it looks like less than 15% including M and low-end RTX 3000) plus not all cards in RTX 3000 family are stronger than PS5.

Would be nice seing which cards you (conveniently?) removed from the equation to get to those numbers. Im sure there’s some food for debate here.

Not that I want to start some shit or anything... :sneaky:

It is public… why I may remove anything? I included even the cards with 2%+ like RTX 3060, RTX 3069 Laptop, RTX 3050, etc.

Mid-end end cards are below 2% and cards like 3080TI or 3090 are around 0.5%.

Im just wondering where you draw the line when choosing cards VS. the PS5. Did you include any 2000 series cards, 3000 series laptops,etc...

Because when I start from RTX 2070 ang go up, I’m at almost 17% and that’s without including any AMD cards. That’s over 23 million with 2070 or better (only for Nvidia).

Again, I personally don’t pay too much attention to this since I believe power is secondary for platform choices.

The point is also moot since the PS5 will without a doubt reach the 100 million mark down the line if stock issues can be resolve. GPU prices hopefully coming back to normal might also allow people to upgrade. It’s all good at the end.

I'd start at the 2060, with an OC it's basically the baseline for a PS5 with better RT capability.

Ahm no. Digital foundry have shown that Series X and PS5 games can perform up to close to 2080 spec. Between 2060 super and 2070 super.

Better ray tracing yeah, Nvidia is miles ahead of AMD for now.
