Preparing the herd for bad news. Typical MS PR. It'll be all "xbox ecosystem" stuff. Basically a nice way of saying: "Yeah, the xbox consumer base can't sustain this business so we're releasing our stuff everywhere".
I don't see any walk back tbh, but instead trying to damage control.
They know this week people will go crazy, so they are desperately trying to calm things.

I honestly just ignore his account more or less. One of those concern-trolling accounts that goes "Sony Too™" with any bad Xbox news (and the strategy shift rumored for Xbox isn't even bad news...for Microsoft Gaming. Maybe for the diehard fanboys of the brand who love to console war, but they're just a small, loud minority).
It gets tiring seeing people like them basically center all their PlayStation discussion on whatever Xbox is doing, good or bad. Almost sure some of them only got into the PlayStation ecosystem last gen, too, which would explain the behavior.
Honestly, the only reason I want the multiplatform rumors to be true is so that acquisitions become less of a threat and so that their loudest fanboys will finally leave the rest of us alone.

There's an element of that... And the discourse around it. Those Xbox fans that blame PlayStation for all their problems and use acquisitions as a stick to poke playstation fans.
Like taking games away from people actually gives them joy.
There's nothing stopping them from still pulling games away from playstation if they choose too it'll be less likely but it's still a possibility they could use this as an attempt to make an upward swing for more funding to try and get in devs favors that have been leaving them behind. If anything Bethesda and Activision are the only multiplat games that should be everywhere. Nobody want Halo when you have CoD and Battlefield etc etc.
The spin cycle has already started. Give the bad news then spin and say it’s actually not so bad because X reason.

The thing is that we don't care enough to keep calling MS\xbox names like that. They keep going back to that kind of "argument" all the time, so the name calling becomes entrenched.
Xbox is just bad at what they are doing, no need to delve further into it, or call them names... It's right there.
I hope xbox games go multiplatform, It should hopefully raise the quality of Microsoft game studios.
I wouldn't call it pessimism it's alot closer to reality then that.
