Sony needs to bolster its first party seriously if there’s no new singleplayer this year till march 2025 what a slap in the face also the porting of singleplayer games to PC makes your console less desirable not surprised they didn’t hit they’re 25 million target only 1 first party (SM2) in 2023 & games being ported consumers from Xbox, PS, Nintendo & PC just skipping a PS5 & migrating to PC knowing they could play PS games on other platforms. (Xbox is imploding in itself due to PC releases & here is PS following last place)

Nintendo continue to break records & switch will probably end up selling 150 million all cause it’s has exclusive that won’t be ported to other platforms also Nintendo can release like 4 to 6 first party game every year (even if they’re smaller scale) PS won’t & will never compete w Nintendo if they continue this strategy
Porting to PC slows down PS5 game development while also removing one of the major reasons for people to buy a PlayStation instead of a PC.

Soon PC will be available in console like format, with a console like experience, free online, much better library of game, better prices, etc. Sony is digging their own grave and it will be very well deserved. They are repeating all the same mistakes that lead Xbox to be where it's at now.

Sony continuing to ignore mobile money which is high growth and gives gaas profits while thinking PC ports will give the same results is like a sick joke.

They could have their growth and stick to their premium single player strategy if they had just acquired a midsized mobile publisher and grew their output.
I know they should cut PC port & put more money into Nixxes actually focusing on PS remaking/remastering games like inFAMOUS 1/2 etc doubling down on console not porting games making your console less desirable.

Also it’s insane Sony hasn’t bought 1 publisher or 2 (capcom & square enix) it’s clear in 2023 that PS needed to bolster its first party some studios working on live service games like guerrilla & sucker punch will have they’re production slow down in singleplayer games. They should build more teams on those studios to continue singleplayer game development, why isn’t there a small team in Naughty dog & Sucker punch working on Jak & Daxter & Sly cooper?… games that would sell & make great profit w a smaller budget.

Sony might aswell buy Hoyoverse to bolster its mobile division having hoyoverse games lock to PS & Mobile is big & a great investment to expand to china & mobile, Hoyoverse could use Sony ip like Demon Slayer & make a mobile genshin like gotcha game that would be huge

I agree Steamdeck is building a library w Xbox & PS games both singleplayer & live service games while having a handheld console Steamdeck, you really have to think why get a PS6 when you can get a Steamdeck 2 when it seems like PS is heading the same route as Xbox. Also Nintendo will get more 3rd party it looks like investing on Nintendo is a better choice long term. It’s shocking Sony hasn’t bought a publisher they stand 0 chance against Nintendo PS has no ground in Japan & overall Nintendo Switch outsold PS4 maybe PS would have a chance if they bought Capcom & Sqaure Enix also with the Switch 2 Nintendo will now get fromsoft games

I want so much to have the confidence to buy a PS5 Pro and PS6 but right now I have zero confidence in Sony.

Physical media is pretty much the only thing PS5 has over PC at this point for me (as well as devs releasing bad PC ports).

PS5 hardware team did an excellent job all around but leadership had a very disappointing vision for the console software lineup.

Great release line up, followed by years of crossgena games, with Insomniac doing all the heavy lifting. That just pales in comparison to how exciting the PS4 was at this same point in time last gen.

Nah great games are just great games whether they are third party console exclusives, first party, ports, etc.. . Sony just literally have one of the hottest games on the planet thts console exclusive in Helldivers 2 right now, Stellar Blade going to drop soon, Final Fantasy Rebirth, Ronin, etc..

Some of the angles and hot takes about software are crazy.

Yeah the confidence on PS is low. Where in year 4 & Sony hasn’t bought a publisher while MS bought 4 Zenimax, Activision, Blizzard & King I can care less if Xbox will become 3rd party Sony should’ve already invested in PS & bought 2 publisher in respond to Zenimax & ABK Capcom & Square Enix & for mobile hoyovers Saudi Arabia will probably buy Capcom or Sega if Sony become this incompetent & tencent been lurking at ubisoft for a long time. Sony investing in Koei Tecmo for Mobile doesn’t gives big hope. No one cares about Koei Tecmo mobile games just my opinion tencent have there own Mobile publisher w Surpercell the makers of Clash of clan & Sega bought the makers of Angry birds Take 2 bought Zynga they’re really only 1 mobile publisher that makes sense for Sony & that’s Hoyoverse. PS downfall will be on Sony incompetence of adjusting to consolidation where ownership of ip & studio is more important then a “relationship” also PS following Xbox strategy is a slap in the face when you look at the market leader & 1st place Nintendo doubling down on console as core

I didn't even factor the follow up to the Switch in my predictions since I have no idea of what it is going to be, it could easily do major damage to PlayStation as well if Nintendo was able to leverage their current dominance to get back into the more traditional console model.

If at any point Nintendo is able to secure good third party support and decent ports of current games, it will cost PlayStation a lot of marketshare and mindshare.

This will cost Sony nothing as Nintendo will continue to have weaker hardware hence lack of proper third party support. As stats have shown an overwhelming amount of Nintendo users have Playstation's as well and vice versa. Nintendo owners either own Switch due to first parties like Mario, Zelda, etc... Or they are Playstation owners who own one complimentary. Nintendo users rarely are choosing between the two, different demo for obvious reasons.

Things change, were you able to predict the Switch would be this successful? You think Nintendo is the only one without ambition to expand their reach?

How could Nintendo owners not own other systems when so many games don't show up on the Switch? Now with a weak console like the Series S holding developers back and so many games targeting 60fps the Switch follow up has a good chance at getting decent ports of most games.

I’m thinking Sony losses Persona 6 & Final Fantasy exclusivity to Nintendo Switch 2 hell I would be surprised if Nintendo got exclusive games from these franchise skipping PS while PS show a lack of confidence on its platform by porting PC games. If your Square Enix or Sega why tf would you make your games exclusive to PS when they themselves aren’t even exclusive to there consoles unless Sony fully pays 100% of the dev cost & more. Remember Nintendo had Dragon Quest & Monster Hunter exclusivity

I think SE exclusivity deals will end with Final Fantasy VII, seems like the way things are going by the way they talk now.

Who else is left as a Sony partner beside SE at this point?

I would not be surprised with Nintendo having some sort of more powerful non-portable device this time to go along with the follow up to the switch somehow. If you are Nintendo it's pretty clear where you have the most opportunity to expand to and it is not PC ports.

Do you believe Jimbo also fucked their third party relationships?

All the issues Icon people are whining about at Playstation point back to the devs themselves. Why is there no new announcement from Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Bend, etc? Because their projects either aren't working out or taking too long or both.

It's not because games are being ported to PC. That is saving the day, bringing in free revenue while these teams keep cooking. Without that revenue, there would need to be (even more) layoffs.

Is there any doubt? Seems like Jimbo style was too cut costs as much as possible and focus on short term and profitability. Since Xbox wasn't an imminent threat they probably turned their back on pretty much all third-party partners.

His biggest bet was Bungie and AAA GaaS pivot and that isn't looking good at all.

No, I don't have any doubts, I was just genuinely asking if that was your opinion. I agree.

Yuh definitely this why I’m surprised Sony hasn’t bought publisher to bolster its ip & first party it’s been 4 years since MS bought Zenimax. Switch 2 getting Capcom, Sauare Enix & Sega mainline games will eat away PS market share hell they’ll probably get fromsoft games. Switch 2 could sell 150+ million while PS5 sells 120 million & if they continue this path PS6 will sell less if they remain like this & continue w this strategy (PS6 will be the console that get effected the most by PC port) if they’re dumb enough they go day 1 on PC & follow Xbox stratedy that left them imploding in itself
