While I hate that Bloomberg shill with a passion, I am curious why Playstation's profit is the only thing that seems to be down. I hope all those high quality PS Extra games isn't eating into profits too much.
If a console manufacturers' profit is down mid-gen, it is usually because of R&D spend has started on the next console, slim model and/or peripheral.

Just shows how badly PS5 was supply constrained, and why Switch was the best-selling sales last year. PS5 would have obliterated it.

Top 5 Q4 in terms of Operating Income(Profit):
PlayStation Q4 FY21
PlayStation Q4 FY18
PlayStation Q4 FY19
PlayStation Q4 FY22
PlayStation Q4 FY20
-Released PSVR2 (so R&D + marketing costs)
-Acquisitions and investments costs
-Higher investments in making games than before
-3rd party sold less than before

I'm curious how installbase is taking this news, they swore up and down PS5 could never hit their 6 million target. I'm sure they're lapping up that Bloomberg article as the only piece of negative "news" to cling onto. If I were Sony I'd have sent that guy a cease and desist with his first false report about bad yields BEFORE the PS5 even launched.

A lot to digest here.

To think PS5 had the biggest Q1 ever costing $500, having no first party release or any big third party release this quarter while most other entertainment companies were coming back to earth after inflated numbers during the pandemic.

The PS5 and the PlayStation brand are just incredible.

The delta in "Others" related to HW and Software sales is ~60B Yen compared to last year. Since this includes PSVR and Sony games on third party consoles, most of the delta if not all is console revenue. They sold probably anything between 500k and 750k PSVR2 units.

Are we sure this guy isn't on Microsoft's payroll?
At this point we can’t be sure of that. Even the worst of Jason Schreier’s Sony concern trolling was not as bad as this Takashi character. Literally every article from him about Sony is how much they’re failing.

Once things calm down we'll need a time line of events for the past weeks just for the purposes of preserving history. I don't thing we've ever seen a beat down like the one Xbox took lately, it has been embarrassing.

Last time we saw anything like this was the famous E3 2013 week 😂
