Problem is GTA6 will still sell gazillion on xbox. Buying Bethesda would've been cheaper than a GTA deal.
Bethesda is meh. The only good IPs are The Elder Scrolls. And Arkane Studios games generally. Bethesda would have been a waste of money, glad Sony didn’t try.

All I am saying is that GTA is an expansive deal. I am not saying Sony should've acquired Bethesda. Also, Bethesda doesn't fit with Sony's management mentality.

So glad I got a PS5 because I knew this would happen. Xbox you have lost me as a fan and a costumer. Xbox needs to play aggressively.

To be fair, he wasn't saying that as a rumor. He just saw that Xbox wasn't in the announcement and threw a fit, assuming Sony had a deal.
He deleted his tweets but he absolutely implied Sony had an exclusivity deal. He also threw a hissy fit, yes.

Are they doing it because they found a partner in sony though
They've been "back" for a few years, with loads of Switch and PS5 games. Albeit, Japan-centric ones. Its also possible that Jez got his wires crossed here, with Sony being involved in Metal Gear Solid the movie, instead in the games. Which is, you know, old news since it was announced a few years ago and has been in development hell ever since.

Those games they've brought to the Switch have mainly been on a much smaller scale; when people say Konami is "back" they mean in the sense of AAA game development, and it's been a few years since they've made such a game, or partnered with anyone to make such a game. So Silent Hill, these MGS and Castlevania rumors etc. would be a return to form for them in many fans' eyes.

Also I strongly doubt Sony would be involved in an MGS movie adaptation and not be involved in working on some of the games or funding some of the games tied to the IP as well. That makes no sense financially or strategically. If the MGS movie is real and Sony's involved, chances are they're involved with helping get these games going again in some way or another.

Imagine the plot twist if Dead Rising reboot is Xbox exclusive and Castlevania/MGS is multiplatform. All their outrage will evaporate so fast the thread won't reach 5 pages (Konami is already at 13)

Yep. You wouldn't hear a peep from them about "Microsoft is preventing millions of PlayStation gamers from playing Dead Rising!". Not a single one.

TBF there are people in the MGS thread there clapping back against the dumbest of Xbox (and Nintendo) fanboy/fangirl posts super salty over the rumor. At some point the double standards of singling out Sony for a practice Microsoft and Nintendo engage in, simply because Sony may pay less due to market share (that they earned), gets tiring.

Apparently, the Sony Pictures leaks from a decade ago revealed talks between them and Nintendo regarding pitches for a Mario movie. Nintendo obviously later settled on Blue Sky but when you aren't involved in movies, the fact that "Sony" is making your film can easily have nothing to do with Playstation. Its a movie studio.

I think Sony only signed a timed console exclusivity for SH2 remake and The Short Message.

If the MGS3 remake exists, I think that it would be the rumored chinese one and would be multi and would be pretty mediocre.

Regarding Castlevania, unless they asking some random indie studio make a B tier sprite based 2D game, I doubt they'd working on it. The best option for it would be FromSoft but I think they may be busy with Bandai Namco and Sony. Their other option is Mercury Steam, but I think they are now the Metroid studio so they'll prefer to continue with Nintendo.

Sony made many movies using external licenses, in most cases not related to videogames. They are profitable and Sony makes money with them.

That's Nintendo, though. And Mario isn't a dormant franchise. Completely different from a situation of Sony maybe getting movie rights to MGS when the IP has been dormant more or less since 2015.

You would want to tie that into a game and why would Sony pass up working on, or collaborating in the process of development on, a new MGS game if they're also trying to make a film? Yes they're two different parts of the company but they would want to have synergy on this kind of thing when both are going to the same company (Konami).

But you also infamously said Sony had nothing to do with Legendary Picture's deal with Capcom on a Street Fighter film, then used that to say Sony weren't buying Capcom, only to later be reminded that Sony Pictures and Legendary actually have a multi-year partnership for distribution of the latter's films which would also include the live-action Street Fighter movie.

A live-action Street Fighter movie, for a game whose new installment Sony has marketing rights to. So it was just kind of off that you rushed to say there was no chance of an acquisition when you might've forgotten about the deal Sony Pictures & Legendary signed.

Not that any of those connections point to any acquisition, either. I'm just saying.

Its way more than just a game rumor, we know the director and who would be playing Snake. Its just that the project has script issues. Movies aren't games, shit leaks out.

And look what we have here, a Capcom not in any way owned by Sony.

I can remember they said it’s a potential Castlevania Symphony of the Night 3D Remake. That would be huge if true.

Btw: The best entry of all Castlevania imo.

No freaking way. That is too good to be true.
Yes easily the best entry, a top 10 of all time game for me

If this is true I hope Sony made a deal with them that keeps these ips in PS forever. Not exclusive, but as in, they have to at least come to PS in the future, so someone like MS cant come and buy them.

Not sure why PS doesnt use its money to buy shares in these publishers to keep them safe to PS. They dont need to buy them outright, just do enough so they cant be bought fully by other platforms
