He deleted his tweets but he absolutely implied Sony had an exclusivity deal. He also threw a hissy fit, yes.

This is what happens Xbox has a leadership such as Phil Spencer.

Only majorly interested in Castlevania and it better be a AAAA origin story title from a top tier Sony studio. Everyone else and any other type of project increases the failure/lack of quality/flop rate variables exponentially. Been waiting for too long for some mid shit.

MS is starting to even lose their fanboys, what a hilarious way for it all to end. As soon as that shill money stops flowing we'll find out what people really think about Xbox.

It's not being made by a Sony studio and Konami is still cheaping out on developers (Bloober Team, Virtuos Games, NeoBards Entertainment, BHVR Interactive, ETC).

To put it bluntly, this rumour is bullshit. It's been circulating in different forms since 2020. We know from the Silent Hill announcements that they don't have a major exclusivity deal with Sony, even the Silent Hill 2 reboot is just a timed exclusive.

Sony also isn't responsible for the Silent Hill revival, the Christophe Gans movie (Return to Silent Hill) is. They admit that in the Transmission.

From Deadline Hollywood:

Brotherhood Of The Wolf and Beauty And The Beast director Gans confirmed that the movie will adapt the second game in the popular franchise, which is also getting a remake for the Playstation 5. The idea is that the new movie and video game can create synergies and producers will be hoping for theatrical buy-in from the gamer community.

Producer Motoi Okamoto also explained the hiatus in an IGN interview. (The new Silent Hill games went into development in 2018, so the series was only really "dead" for a few years.)

The Silent Hill series had been dormant for quite a while. Konami as a company wanted to bring it back, and lots of people working here wanted to make Silent Hill games. The only thing was that everyone had different ideas of what Silent Hill is and why they loved it, making it difficult to coalesce around a single direction.

I joined Konami during this time and was asked if I could make something work. I agreed to bring everything together and took charge of the project, eventually getting everyone to go in the same direction.

Additionally, Video Games Chronicle (who correctly leaked the Silent Hill games before they were announced) already said the next Castlevania game is being developed in-house.

They also reported that Konami was planning a big E3 event, which puts a dent in the Sony exclusivity rumour.

At this point, I think we need to accept a couple of things.
  1. Sony isn't swooping in to revive Konami's biggest franchises.
  2. Hideo Kojima is never making another Konami title.
Incidentally, the one game that we know Sony has a marketing deal with (Silent Hill 2R) will also most likely be the most received one, next to Silent Hill: Ascension. However, that's for reasons that have nothing to do with Sony.

Scared Symbols talked a while ago about this…
I can remember they said it’s a potential Castlevania Symphony of the Night 3D Remake. That would be huge if true.

Btw: The best entry of all Castlevania imo.
Source link?

Also, after reading the era thread. it seems they believe Sony isn't being fair with this deal? Are we gonna just pretend that EVERY platform holder doesn't do the same exact thing?
