Sony reverses position & will no longer require PSN account linking for Helldivers 2. Must take the right lessons from this fiasco.

you clearly ignore the fact that Sony pushes for extreme quality of their products, i have no doubt if there’s a company that can create a functional launcher is them, they have some of the best software/audio engineers in the world
Uhm...quality? The PSN stuff itself is not a good storefront in it self. Terrible discovery, no gifting, a mediocre rating system that scores the worst games on the store like 3/5 stars, a backend that requires long time with certification to both release games and patch games, a discount system that indie devs have complained for a long time is invite-only (tons of indie devs rarely go on sale on PSN because Sony has to invite them to sale events), a backend that doesn't really allow early access games, no sense of algorithms that allows smaller games to increase in popularity just by word of mouth.
And what does having audio engineers have to do with a PC storefront?
Who the fuck cares about negative review lol, these pc fuckers already paid and played the game for hundreds of hours now if they want to quit playing the game, they sure can quit and mald online. At the end of the day Sony and Playstation are not dependent upon the peanut money from "Elite Steam Players", they are trying to cater to an audience who are cheap and don't buy games
pc players do go out of their way not to buy ps4 or 5 console while actively complaining about "port bloodborne" and at the same time buying 2000$ gpus.
Dude, blodobornebox is 150$. But they prefer to wait endlessly while 50 excslusives they never played wait there for a fraction of a price of gpu.

It could be worse, they could be ubisoft and restrict all their games to their own shitty proprietary storefront and launcher. If the games stay on Steam and the only thing we need to worry about is needing a PSN account, I'm good with that.

After MS bought Mojang, I had to sign into a fucking MS account in order to play. That is far more egregious than what Sony is doing here. HD2 has been a Sony game since day-1.

Where easy to make a PSN account and you don't need a VPN for it. Also, i'm using a US PSN for 15+ years with fake address and living in Europe. Nobody gives a shit about it. That's how PC gamers could play games when making a PSN account
ANy discussion ends on the point that it was written from the first day that you need a PSN account. I would first check (if I didn't have a Playstation) whether I can create them at all, before I cash out 40 EUR..

If you're in a different region that doesn't support PSN you can make another regions account, and connect it to steam.
