Btw, none of Sonys own stores are particularly liked and lacks a lot of Steams features that people like with Steam, a big feature is gifting.

If you think Sony will be able to build a good PC storefront, you are in for a rude awakening. And if they do, I will be positively suprised. The problem with all of Steams competitors, is that they straight up sucks in many different ways.

Uhm...quality? The PSN stuff itself is not a good storefront in it self. Terrible discovery, no gifting, a mediocre rating system that scores the worst games on the store like 3/5 stars, a backend that requires long time with certification to both release games and patch games, a discount system that indie devs have complained for a long time is invite-only (tons of indie devs rarely go on sale on PSN because Sony has to invite them to sale events), a backend that doesn't really allow early access games, no sense of algorithms that allows smaller games to increase in popularity just by word of mouth.

What those people are refusing to understand is that people also did not like creating any other 3rd part account. EXCEPT: In those other games, it was from day 1, and none of those games were as successful and big as Helldivers 2 so naturally there will be more discord around it.

This whole situation is embarrassing from all sides... I'm sitting on the fence just watching the fireworks, but I'd have to side with Sony on this. It's their product and they they can do what they want with it. Every other fucking company does it, why can't or shouldn't Sony?

After MS bought Mojang, I had to sign into a fucking MS account in order to play. That is far more egregious than what Sony is doing here. HD2 has been a Sony game since day-1.

Personally, I main PC now since 2021 and can count the number of games I've bought on PSN since then on one hand, but I will never consider myself PCMR, or associate with any of that cancerous "community".

I really like Steam + Valve also, got my steam deck, which is an amazing device, but I'm even starting to dislike Steam in all of this. They need to be knocked off their fucking perch too. All those Steam stans can go eat fucking dicks, they are so fucking cringe.

Where easy to make a PSN account and you don't need a VPN for it. Also, i'm using a US PSN for 15+ years with fake address and living in Europe. Nobody gives a shit about it. That's how PC gamers could play games when making a PSN account

ANy discussion ends on the point that it was written from the first day that you need a PSN account. I would first check (if I didn't have a Playstation) whether I can create them at all, before I cash out 40 EUR..

If you're in a different region that doesn't support PSN you can make another regions account, and connect it to steam.

Its just an email and a password.
