And that refund is completely fair, they can get the refund and steam is offering the refund. Its the bitching and crying that is ridiculous, they can get the refund and move on and let the people who want to make psn id's make them and play the game
tbh Sony's history with data protection isn't very encouraging too. All of this has gotten way out of hand. 200K negative reviews and counting. If so many people dont want this, then there is no need to have this PR disaster around a really successful game.

They sold the game globally for months. And then pulled the game from 177 countries where PSN isn't officially available. Complete rug pull here. I hope Steam refunds people. The game wont be accessible to paying customers anymore, how is that fair? Poor decision making here.

To me not even the highest ranks of gaming's SS Waffen can stand up for Sony on this one. This shows what I historically think of them, at least since the PS3 days: Great at handling their first party output and studios, sometimes at hardware but complete trash or bare minimum at anything else. With an absolute disdain for the end user, that has to bend down and take it as they have little competition. Also a certain air of arrogance.

Sony has a significant issue with communication and PR. Significant. They should have capitalized on the massive sucess of this game and continue building goodwill with the PC audience. They found this sucess out of nowhere, because helldivers was not their big GaaS bet so at least keep the ship steady and dont mess up anything.

But instead they handled the launch of their first online game in a complete amateurish manner. I am not saying they have to have PSN for each country on earth but be clear since the beginning regarding any potential workarounds for the user. And how are you going to remediate the lack of PSN in several countries going forward. Remember, this is the company that took 15 years to be able to add the funcionality to change your username. So theres not a lot of trust from the PC gamer audience regarding their expertise on the matter. Clear communication is key if they want to get to new audiences.

All this to increase MAUs in a power point slide... If you push that update, wait until the game dies down a bit to reduce the backlash. Common sense...

Ffs people are treating their private data as if they are millionaires most of the guys getting outraged by this live on credit card debt and already have their data including their porn habits known by google, facebook and all the other tech companies. This changes nothing people were not buying PS games on steam before helldivers and they were not buying after helldivers- they are trying to appease to the wrong crowd here who buy majority of games on steam sales

Yeah, because Steam is super protected.

People spend every waking hour on social media, with their data all over the place but draw the line at Sony. Utterly ridiculous.

Steambots are at no position to lecture people on safety.

"All my homies hate Sony"

Why are Sony bringing any games or anything at all to these people on pc?

Just why?

If the CEO wasn't a spineless prick he should apologize, pull all PS games out of PC for new purchases, and see how those bitches will have a black market for accounts that have these games on high demand. They already shat themselves when they saw that it's been pulled from 177 countries, they wanna backtrack and say sorry and start linking. Of course if you've already bought the game you have it, but no new purchase are allowed from those "poor" 177 regions, not countries, because the world has 195 countries just so you guys don't drift away.

After that, sue every mofo that even discusses the possibility of trying to pirate/steal the games to court, and go with severe punishments for whom who already did just like Nintendo.

Thank fuck he had the decency to respond with this. The CEO sounds even more messed up in those tweets, as I only saw one.
Nah, he has been clear: Arrowhead knew that 6 months before launch the game needed to require PSN account linking, as always shown in all the game trailers (pre and post launch) and in the Steam store.

But in launch day due to server issues he decided to temporally disable it and now they are restoring it. He didn't know that players "can't" create PSN accounts in certain countries, and doesn't know why there isn't a list of all the countries there. I assume the reason is that in legal terms PSN must have to offer certain support and legal stuff in the countries they operate, or maybe simply only have countries there with a specific PSN store.

Sounds perfectly reasonable.

The man literally threw a tantrum and threw Sony under the bus, before admitting it was his fault.

His only human, probably under a lot of stress right now of course his going to make mistakes.

At least he took accountability for his actions, which is rare for a CEO to do
