From the impressions, this seems like a GOTY contender. Couldn't be happier for Larian, between them, Osidian and Owlcat they've kept the cRPG genre alive and with BG3's success it might start thriving again.
Primarily BG3 starting from Friday which tides me over to Starfield next month. Will look into Armored Core, Lies Of P, and Sea Of Stars after that. Currently playing Remnant 2 and finishing up on Pentiment.
This sort of game usually sells more on PC than on console. The gameplay and UI don't lend themselves well to a console controller button layout. It's very commendable that Larian is having a PS5 release and are working on an Xbox release this close to their PC launch. Usually, console players...
Good. More people get to play the game, Hope to see more of this in the future as long as Square Enix remains independent. Also, why are people surprised by this, hadn't both parties indicated they were working to get FFXIV to Xbox?
I mentioned those 2 specifically because they both have enormous scope and are being made by studios with a sub-500 dev count. Comparatively, we have CP77 where CDPR grew way too fast(300 - 1100 in 5yrs), probably creating a logistical nightmare for themselves, and they couldn't deliver on their...
We don't have to bring down TW3 to make a point about FFXVI. TW3 side quests weren't just "pure fetch quests". There were different outcomes on quests based on player choice. I don't think FFXVI has gotten a lot of hate, it's more people expressing some dissatisfaction with the game. From the...
Risk and reward. the capital investment, and more importantly, the time investment of building new studios makes it riskier and less rewarding than acquiring established and successful studios.
Given Bethesda's Open World pedigree, I doubt they'll get to CDPR's level of over-promising and under-delivering. From their gameplay presentations, Starfield plays very much in BGS's strengths as a studio and the technologies they've built.
Part of No Man Sky's legacy will be to make the term "Procedurally Generated" forever misunderstood and negatively associated. Kudos to Ubi's marketing team for capitalising on this. Realistically though, Games rely on procedural generation for level design, enemy spawns, itemization etc. Most...
Successful live service games turn mid-size publishers into big-boy publishers. It's the difference between EA/ABK and Ubisoft/Square Enix. I thought the console manufacturers would remain immune to the allure of live-service games, especially Sony but it does not seem to be the case.
Eeeh, there shouldn't be an argument about the intent behind that statement, everybody knows what it means. The judge probably considered it but deemed it immaterial to the case. The main thing FTC has(had) to prove is if the acquisition of ABK resulted in MS "spending Sony out of business" and...
I don't know where in my comment I said Breaking Bad and The Wire were low quality. We don't even have to go subjective on this topic. Objectively bigger budgets are going to various projects, from animation to documentaries. That increases the chances of higher-quality shows being produced now...
