Oh look I was right and Gamepass is a failure, despite what the MS cheerleaders wanted us to believe. 28% growth vs 73% expected is abysmal, especially when you basically give away subs for $1 / month as an upgrade.
No surprise here. Nobody asked for more cheap mediocre games, and that's what...
No corp is friend of another corp (well, unless we're dealing with very small companies), both are trying to make the maximum money they can. People just switch from one corp to the other, nobody cares. Nobody hates anybody. They're just all trying to make money.
If this is rejected, any similar massive investment would be rejected exactly the same way for the same reasons. That's fanboy wishful thinking, but hey it's Jez.
Sure there are layoffs in a lot of corps, but here there are veteran layoffs in the Xbox division, that's the meaningful part. They're supposed to make GP take off as soon as possible or their gaming division is screwed (unless you think they don"t lose money on their $1 GP sub upgrades) and...
I must say all those Xbox fanboy tears are delicious. But when you think about it, the deal is more than shady. $70 billion is a huge sum even for MS, remember it's like 300 times what Sony paid for Insomniac... They definitely use their money from outside gaming to buy the gaming market and...
Final warning is rarely final on GAF if you're a Xbox fanboy. Bernd was on final warning and it was silently removed later, he got multiple very short bans afterwards. Other MS cheerleaders / ambassadors / astroturfers / douchebags had their last warning removed too.
That would be very dumb. They're market leaders by a good margin, and they make most of their money from the 30 % cut on any sale on their store + DLC and all. Would Apple give up on the cut on Apple Store ? Don't think so either. You have no reason to change a winning strategy. They bring their...
Market leaders are evaluated with revenue or market cap, not quarterly profit, otherwise very small companies could be "market leader" and any bad quarter would change the order (and Xbox would be a non existent dwarf with all their losses), all of which don't make sense obviously. Sony profit...
Nobody will care about the price hike outside of the 12 people still writing on forums. Whoever has the best exclusives wins, and that's Sony by a landslide. They could price it $600 and it would still outsell Xbox comfortably.
Like I said day one, video games are not directed by "value"...
Successful consoles everybody want can get more expensive, while failing competitors tend to get quickly cheaper. News at eleven.
Nobody will prefer playing Grounded or The Medium to God of War Ragnarok because the console costs $50 less though...
If anybody could go 3rd party, that's not Sony (the leader by a country mile, 2021 revenue is $22.67 bn vs Nintendo $15.79 bn, not even close), it's Xbox. Game Pass to this day is a failure : it missed its latest MS target and they only sold 13 million consoles until now vs 21 million PS5...
So much for Xbox or Game Pass "success". PS5 is already at 21 million vs 13 million Xbox Series consoles while PS5 wasn't available anywhere and Series S was on shelves everywhere.
Now imagine the numbers when PS5 is actually available as it's only starting to be... We're back to the last gen...
They spend good amounts of money in bribes and astroturfing. Had they used that money on game development instead, their fans might have had a good exclusive to play in 2022.
